I use these. They saved me from some rash last weekend. Long socks are a must, but they are pretty comfortable over the long haul.

A great thing to invest on IMO is under armor pants. No need for long socks with those.

I have the Icons. The have the tendency to ride down after a while with my chicken legs bur still have great coverage protection.

Have the A* as well, but they are bulky and restrictive unless you wear baggy jeans. Been meaning to look for something with a little lower profile.

Got mine from Motorcycles Unlimited and they work great under my jeans for when I don't want to wear the track pants. Wear them in reverse order and they fit even better, ie, right on left, left on right. They are nice for a starter pair. Paid like $25, and something is better than nothing. I feel a lot better with them on.

My A* boots are designed for shin guards to fit inside them
