photo ticket & points

I got a "photo ticket" for making a right turn without 100% stopping..I think I was at around 5 mph and everything was clear (, i was the only one at that intersection) so I turned without fully 100% stopped...well a week later I got a photo ticket (this is Sugarland). This is like the dumiest thing ever

Should I contest it (to get the fine reduced)? What's the success rate on this?? arghh!!!!

search the net....i read somewhere that you can get away without actually paying those because they can't prove you were in the car. I can't remember where, or if it is even true.

I know that "photo" ticket is classified as a non-moving violation thus you will not get issue points (they cannot verify the driver..they simply send the ticket to the vehicle's owner). However, when you go in and contest it, they now know who the driver is (if they ask during the interrogation). So I guess my next question would be will points be assessed to my driving records if they find out the driver in this case?
I personally don't think so since they already classified as non-moving and probably can't change it on a wimp...but really don't want to find out if they "do".

Thoughts?

well on the ticket it covers that. It basically said since you're the owner, you're responsible...you must provide proof that whoever drive the car at that time (name/DL # etc) so they can go after that person. If it's a rental then the rental company will get a ticket and in turn, they will provide name of the one who is renting the car during that period. Now if you rent and gave the car to another person, then you own that ticket...

Great..have an extra $75?

But seriously, making a right turn at 5mph (or less), absolutely no one at the intersection and getting a ticket is just plain stupid. I mean I braked all the way to almost a stop while looking back and forth for traffic..

The "Almost" part its what gets it!
I got my first ticket for running a stop sign and I actually did the same thing.. I came to a stop but did not stopped all the way, cop told me that i need it to stop for about 2-3 seconds..
to make a complite stop will be the only way that they will let you go, if you almost stopped but didn't all the way then you never came to a stop (thats called yield)

its all just a bunch of ... have to make their fatter.

They've gotten me twice like that. I paid the first one, tried to contest the other one (in Houston) and they made me pay it anyway..

I got one about 8 months ago on my bike in Magnolia Texas for not coming to a complete stop at a red light and making a right turn. When I first got it in the mail, it was 75$. I never paid it and 2 months later they mailed me another ticket but it was 100$ now. To this day I have not paid it, and I have gotten the registration on both my bike and car renewed, I had my drivers license renewed, and my car inspected, and nothing has ever came up about the red light ticket. Also I have been pulled over by 2 Magnolia city cops since this has happened and was let off with warnings both times with neither of them mentioning the ticket. So I think I will continue to not pay it, and if anything ever comes of it, I never got it in the mail

Just tell em you stopped and it still took your photo. The cams don't know if you actually stopped, they just know if you crossed the trigger point while the lights red.
