If you are staying in SA, don't even bother trying to go and be back by 1-2 pm. You are missing the entire reason for going out there, which is to enjoy the roads.

If you are going out there to ride, do the Sisters; if you want to make lunch at the River Walk and party, drive out another Sat morning and spend the night.

The 3 Sisters loop will take you a couple hours or better, IF you can maintain a decent pace and don't stop for too many photos.

Make sure and map from and back to where you are staying, it will add more than you think.

You can search on Bandera, TX and they have an events listing which usually shows the rallys.

Yeah, there's no way you could leave SA at 7am and be back by noon. If you did, it wouldn't be any fun.

Hunt is on 39 about 12 miles west of Kerrville. I like riding 337 out to Medina from Bandera but recommend coming back via 187 to 39 ad Kerrville to I-10. 39 is a pretty nice ride, too.

When you travel the "cattle guard" road, make sure you do not counter steer through the bumps, it scares the cows .

You should have no problem running 85 or so through the 20 mph marked corners, that is what Duc's are made for... Watch out for the hard left-hander out of Leaky, the locals like to sit on the ledge and drop rocks on bikes as they go by.

Make a lot of snide remarks about Harley's and their riders before you leave each morning.

There is usually a Photographer with a few signs warning you he is there, make sure you put your knee down and flip him the bird.

If you see other riders coming at you tapping their helmet with their left hand, that means the coast is clear and you should go for it!

If you see a cop, don't worry about your speed, they are looking for the drunk rider's and they ignore all speeders.

Trust in your training and above average ability and you can never go wrong.

Some buddies and I hit the 3 Sisters a few weeks ago and the roads are in very good condition. If you do it on a weekend especially watch out for the LEOs - speed traps arise and it's a revenue generator for those counties. Others have mentioned the Harleys and I agree. Nothing more frustrating than travelling that distance to ride those great roads and then getting stuck behind 20 or 30 riders doing 50 mph in a 65 mph zone. I got impatient and am now dealing with it - a ticket in Bandera County for passing in a no-passing zone! Ride early and avoid those folks. If you have a full day then there is no reason that you can't ride the 3-Sisters Loop, the Hunt Loop and the Utopia Loop in one day. The Hunt Loop is especially nice as you ride along the river (39) and the ride down to Medina (16) is amazing with its switchbacks. Just remember that if you go down it will be several hours (at least) before you end up in a rural hospital. Ride accordingly and have fun.

Thanks for the info, we are planning to take (16) from Helotes to Vanderpool, then to 337 to 336, not sure about the Hunt loop yet but we'll see once we get there.

It is a great trip. We stayed in sa too. We left sa and went north to kerrville, then 16 down to 337. Did the loop, came back across 337 to 16 west back to sa. It took all day but we had a blast.

don't go too fast. posted speeds are usually right but sometimes TOO FAST for a bike. tons and tons of bikes have gone right over the edge of cliffs out there
