Or mod up an R1 or Ducati upper to the TL lowers...

Going for late model Busa forks with radial brakes and Racetech guts
Biturbo rear shock
GSXR or something else tail fairing

It already has the highmount Jardine cans so I'll work around those

Will see if I can mod the Marchesini wheels off my 12R to fit

Also found some big bore kits that get the HP up closer to 150 from the stock 115-120, so that'll make it more 2011/2012 style..

That and put it on a diet.. the TL's were a tad porky but not terrible.

Will be a long term project as budget and time allow.. more as it develops!

cool

if your going to try and build this i would stick to the stock TL tail section , mybe try your hand at some fiberglass work,, but i would leave that DISTINCTIVE lip on the tail

also in for updates ,, would be sick !

Yeah, never liked the tail; too much like a Busa. Idea is to update to a lighter, thinner, more "modern" look.

Early 2000-2002 GSXR subframe is a bolt on, and it needs a new subframe anyhow.

No plastics on the bike right now anyhow.

Have plastic welder and fiberglass experience so we'll see.

uhhh NO!

Sorry, that light, the fat and hump are the things I never liked about the TLR styling...

I came across a guy that bought a Duc 916 with a blown motor, and put a TLR motor in.. it all fit under the Duc fairings..

Interesting because I love the front end on the 1098 and had been pondering whether to try adapting a set of race fairings...

I know, blasphemy!

The rear lip, fat hump, trunk space is what sets tlr apart from the rest. Now ur going to make it like everyother sportbike. Shame on you.

Upon further review.. I came across a complete set of OEM fairings, tank and light for a good price..

So I'll spend the $$$ on the motor and suspension and not re-invent the wheel...

... but then I come across something like this... darn it!

Needs a different color wheel than gold I am thinking, and a better color match on the tail scheme, but otherwise.. sweet!

Can't get the wheel to look right, but I think the exhaust needs to go up similar to the RC-51..

Still thinking with this color scheme it nees a different color rim..either silver or black with dark blue rim stripes.. ??

Or.. powder coat the frame and swingarm black, and go for gold wheels?

Thought that was Yamaha's colors...

I picked up a perfect blue n white tank, so I'll work around that.

Gathering parts, continuing to play around with my paint.. I have some 03 fairings which are a little different design but close
And my wheels are off a 2011 Busa in metallic grey..

anyhow... latest rendition of the "plan", and a pic of what it used to look like, and one of the wreck...

Acquiring a nice little pile of bits... gonna be "interesting" when it's done

Looks cool ! The purpose of the bulbous tail was to prevent drafting. I've had my TLR since 00 and truly love the bike !
