No problem buddy! Its a very easy mod to do, anything you do to it will help breathing. If you want to keep it simple, I'd get the biggest drill bit you can find and swiss-cheese it! This is also a good time to blow the stock air filter out with compressed air, or switch to an aftermarket filter.

I K&N any ride I have, car, bike just makes sense economically if nothing else. I'm wondering if I should do this mod in short order, or wait until after I have fitted a PCIII, which I intend to do when I have the clams together for a 4-2-1 Ti Muzzy system. (or slip on if you can give me any info on where to go look for some ZX9R headers like your running).

I just got a stock ZX9R header off ebay...I had to cut and re-weld the collector to clear the shock linkage though!

Thanks, again. I'll start trolling e-bay... I'd seen on other threads that there was cutting & welding to do on those. I've been wondering if the Z750 stock headers would fit? I'll stop by Mancuso or Motorcycles Unlimited & ask those guys. Seems it would, same block just different bore & stroke & that would eliminate cutting & welding etc..

Good question! If its the same block it should definitely fit, if it will clear the oil pan too. E-bay header was like $50 and in good shape too! With the FMF slip-on, I only have like $275 in the entire system, which is way cheaper than the other full systems I have seen, and even cheaper than Z1000 slip-ons.

I just ordered a set of these for the short-term: -http://www.dan-moto.com/z-1000-2003-2006-titanium-gp-product-124.html?zenid=b79ffrlm3dqmfhktj734oj3ed1 $304 delivered from China of all places. Got some decent reviews from Z owners on YouTube. If I can get a full 4-2-1 by pieces parts like you long term, I'd rather do that than pony up $1500 for a Muzzy & PCIII.

I was SO close to going with the Dan Moto carbon slip-ons! They looked great, with a lot of good feedback. I decided I just wanted a single-exit, which is why I went with the ZX9R/FMF setup. You'll be happy with the DanMoto though, I'd like to hear it when you're all done!

Sorry I keep buggin' Ya man... I'm looking on E-Bay & there are several listings for ZX9R headers, 2 of interest are a) an 00-01 & b) an 03. Is there a cut-off year where these won't fit a Z1000 any more?

I think they'll both fir the block, but the difference is in the collector. I think I went with a 2002 year model, but I can't recall exactly!
