Some gear is better than no gear, but not as good as a complete set.

What is your average cruising speed?

Would you be willing to jump off the scooter at that speed and feel 100% confident you'd come out unscathed?

Crusing speed depends on the traffic or how much traffic. Usually 80-85.

No i would not jump off for any reason, i get what you getting at, but when its My time, I will go with .

the way I ride (here it is NewrRider), all day, over 30,000 miles a year, especially during summer time, comfort is a safety precaution, also the chances of me going down are much lower since i ride the way I ride.

Hey chill with the gear, this is one of those motorcycle topics with no right answer. Just like riding "staggered" or "two abreast". To me... it just depends.

It could've been, I heard it from one of the other newbies riding 90, I think it was Femi from Nigeria. Ask NewRider or Mark (pronounced "Murck).

I was just following the route. And if you're curious, yeah I lost them not becuase of my bike, becuase of me, and the handlebars.

or when the suburban pulls out right in front of you. a large set of tittays won't appear out of nowhere to cushion your fall.

I didn't get a chance to meet you last night TMAX, but I did see you. I think you had plenty of gear on. You might replace the slacks with some denim or better, but you're way off the scale, safety wise, then all scooter riders I've seen. And you're even much better dressed then a lot of bikers I see.

Personally, I'd lose the chaps, but to each his own. lol

Sooo...because you are on a scooter, and I on a supersport, you don't require the same amount of gear for a similar cruising speed, and you are less likely to go down on the same roads thousands of other Houstonians ride on?

You're a freaking riot TMAX, but sure do exaggerate or take things really literal... Don't be so much on the defensive, only advise I got.

Couple of questions...

what if you do NOT die...but just left permanently scarred? Google Image search "Road Rash Queen"

And while the way you ride is part of the equation, the other part is the driver's around you. The way you ride doesnt make THEM better drivers...

That makes your excuse less creditable.

You don't have to wear gear man, just don't claim to when you don't!
