This weekend - RR is probably gonna be bad

Well, on my way home from campus this morning, I plagged "tag" with a state trooper... he was in front of me and I know he saw me at the light where we both turned onto 359 south ... so I stayed about 1/2 a mile back and matched his speed... well, he finally flipped a u-turn just south of monaville, and I shot him a wave as I was going through the turn... he waved back, so I figured no big deal... But it felt pretty obvious what he was trying to do was catch me speeding by getting out ahead of me and then pulling over so he could clock me as I went past ... that's standard trick they try to pull (the troopers) out here.

Well, on the rest of the ride home I passed 4 more troopers (one in a caddy SUV, 2 in F150's and 1 more in a crown vic) and 6 sheriff's dept guys... all in various vehicles.

I then passed up a few portable signs that said something to the effect of "caution"... blah blah blah "watch for bicyclers" .... and then saw some off duty cops in their PoV's at the stop signs and intersections for 529 and 1458... looks like this weekend is going to suck for racer's road because it'll probably be crawling with Po-Pos and bicyclers. No idea what day they're actually going through... maybe today and tomorrow... or maybe just today. If you're coming this way I'd google it before hand to check and see.

My bike is going in the garage and I'm taking the truck the rest of the weekend... no need to get jacked with just for giggles by some bored state trooper.

Yup we'll roll out from the Houston area EARLY Saturday morning, should be back to business as usual on Saturday evening and Sunday.

There are, of course, some people who don't do the MS150 and are training for other rides/races, so stay vigilant.

Yeah... true... but they don't ALWAYS have to ride through my neighborhood... do they??? I notice they never schedule these things to ride through cinco ranch or "the lakes" of eldridge.

Anyway... you sort of missed the point of the original post... If you're trying to stay low on the radar... racer's road is probably not the place to be this weekend... I passed about a dozen Po-Pos at 9:30 in the morning... so by lunchtime it's gonna be a madhouse and I'm sure anyone on a sport bike is going to be target #1 to them (they already have a thing for it out here to begin with because of all the deaths and major accidents on 1485 within the last 2 years).

All that being said... tell your son's mom to "give 'em and ask for change back" ... I used to do stuff like that (10k charity runs, and such) but I'm always swamped with homework and projects during the school year now...

...Just for giggles...
Maybe we can start a "Rider Down" fund raiser run through all the yuppie neighborhoods... we can ride through cinco ranch and kingwood and the woodlands with our bikes in first gear (no one is allowed to go over 15mph... but you HAVE to have an open exhaust so it's nice and LOUD!!!) and we'll roll mob-deep and have the po-pos stopping traffic for us at every intersection for 150 miles... It'll be to raise cager awareness that bikers are people too and it's not nice to cut us off on the freeway or try and "lane share" with us.
