Arrow Rider down... I was there!

Rider down at 45 Northbound just south of Telephone Rd. Incident occurred about 11:45 am. Bike was a 2006 GSX-R 600.

Rider was traveling in the right lane (maybe second to right, I'm not sure) traveling approximately with the flow of traffic. What looked like a long cinder block was laying in the rider's path, perpendicular to direction of travel.

There was insufficient time to avoid obstacle and the rider's front tire struck the object. Rider was thrown from bike, landed on his back/backpack, and slid headfirst in the original direction of travel.

The red truck behind the rider WAS paying attention and did NOT run me the over... Thank you! Apparently he rides as well

I didn't get any pics at the time... But just got back from the yard to inspect bike and got pics there.

Thankfully I was wearing my helmet, gloves, and leather jacket. I have a little bit of road rash where my jacket ends just above my pants. The paramedics were really helpful and really nice. I refused transport, but they cleaned me up on site and chilled with me until my ride came to get me. Even the bike cops that showed up were nice!

I wanted to keep the 4"x4" (turns out it wasn't a cinder block, but a 4"x4"x2'-ish board), but apparently the firefighters took it with them

Pics are uploading to photobucket now. I'll post them up shortly.

Yeah, that was the first thing on my mind. As soon as I hit the ground and was sliding, I looked up to see what the traffic behind me was doing. I'm thankful that the guy behind me was paying attention and that I was wearing my gear.

I had about 4 car-lengths of space. The car went right over it. It sort of blended in with the road, so by the time I saw it there was nothing I could do.

Pics are uploading. Mechanically it is fine. Except now I need 2 rims and a few other minor things.

Also, apparently I cancelled my collision coverage several months ago to save money, so I'm not covered for this. So now I need to rent a truck, or install a hitch on my Rav4 and rent a trailer and go get my bike today or early tomorrow.

Really? That's really awesome of you. Where do you live? I'm in clear lake/ friendswood and the bike is just off of I-10 near 45.

I'll buy you gas and a case of beer! Or something extra for your time.
