Hey, I live right around the corner but I'm too lazy to gear up. Who's looking to buy and what year is it?

he'll shoot his eye out! props though, dad allowed me to buy my first real streetbike 2 weeks before my 18th....he didn't, however, take the time to help me with my choice...therefore I ended up with a kanotuna.

19 is a good age to get your first streetbike. Not too young, but young enough to have fun. Is this one his first?

I guess that comes with the territory of being a parent, I was 19 when I bought my first and my dad was pretty upset when a bike magically appeared in the garage one night. In my opinion though, after owning both, If he can handle a ninja 500, he can handle a SV650.

Nah, no offense taken! Most of what I know about bikes is from what people tell me so I'm always up for learning something new.

In that case, if Ulric allows his son to get the 03 SV, I can be sure that he will love it because I like the heck outta mine and so do most of my friends.

The only thing i warn for new riders on sv650's is that it is a great bike all around for new riders. But i have seen some new riders try to accelerate by dumping clutch and going full throttle. The torque+lightweight bike = eating your lunch. As long as he is cautious, great bike to learn on. Ive owned and riden all kinds of bikes. And i still keep an SV around to have fun on.

If you bought the 03, just remember subframe and seat are different that 04 on up. I can't quite remember though, if it was for both the S and N model. SVRider.com is your friend.

Word, I enjoy my SV650. But while it can be rather forgiving, if someone goes overboard just like on any other bike, they will themselves up in a hurry.

You can get injured on a 50 just as quickly as you can on a busa if you do not keep a level head.
