How much boost did you run on the 225mph pass?

Only 16lbs, about 340hp or so.... I can run it up to about 24lbs with my current map....right around 400hp or so.... Any more then that and it's gonna wheelie or spin anyway with my chassis setup.

How much can you put down by gear? Do you have boost-by-gear setup or what?

Looking at options with the Gen-II and if stock wheelbase would even be ride-able until 5th or 6th and progressively increasing to 24lbs or so...

AMS1000 will ramp in boost at what ever rate you want....It is adjustable MANY ways.... Most do it by "shift"..... everytime you hit the air shifter and the solenoid grounds, it triggers the AMS1000 to go to the next "gear"......once it shifts into the next gear, the ramp/delay starts....

AMS1000 is the only way to go....

Texas Mile

I actually could have gone considerably faster on 16lbs(340hp) then what I did...... I was following advice from some of the faster guys telling me to ease into it and just be wide open between the 1/4- 1/2 mile markers, and to be in 6th by 1/2 mile.....On my 225 mph run, I didn't get WOT til 3rd gear and WAY short shifted 5th to 6th at the 1/2 marker...... basically, I wasted the first 1/4 mile of the track.....all my speed was gained from 1/2 mile on...... I think I could run 230-233 mph with the correct gearing and the same 16-17lbs of boost.... More power = more spinning....which could = slower.

Look at Jen, she went 230mph with only about 320hp with a stg 1 kit and 18-19lbs.......

Next time I run, I will be more serious about it. I will lower the bike some, remove the mirrors, bring more gearing options, have enough chain so I can move the wheelbase around, and ofcourse I will bring more power into it..... I didn't have the AMS1000 last time....also this time I will be pulling timings out after 16lbs to try to keep the head gasket in it. I "SHOULD" be able to run 235 mph without TOO much trouble IF the wind is dead and the motor stays together....I figure about 18lbs of boost at the most should do it.......I wouldn't mind shooting for 240 mph but that is a HUGE jump....."On paper" I should be able to pull it off with 24lbs if it doesn't wheelie or spin too bad....... But thats a lot of "IFs" and we all know "on paper" doesn't always come to reality....

I would be content with 235 mph..... That would atleast move me back into the top 20 list in the Fastest 200 list...... I'm number 36 now...... I was number 26 back in 09....

I hope you get it Allen, that is FAST!

I'm still researching when I get time. Apparently on the Gen-II you can do boost by gear through the ECU just like the AMS1000. Have you heard anything about that or heard anyone using it?

Trying to decide if I should just do the basic upgrades....spacer, SS valves, etc. and keep it around 320hp or if I should just spend the extra money while it's apart and build it for 500+ (Turbo limited to 420ish).

Would really like to keep it stock wheelbase, just don't know if it will be ride-able like that.....then again I'm 230. I don't really know how fast I want to go. Right now I'd be happy with 220mph but of course it would be nice to go 250+.

Go basic upgrades and play with 300-320hp with AMS and learn a ton while keeping it fairly cheap so that it's more fun.

Quick update from the Texas Mile race... Horrible winds on Friday were killing speeds. They were having 50 mph head wind gusts! As of this morning, my buddy Karl on a BIG motor Busa only went 211 into the wind. Dean went 220 on a turbo Zx10(normally runs high 220s). Mike Hooks Busa caught on fire after it kicked a rod through the cases, severing a fuel line and it ignited. He was able to get off safely. I believe the bike is toast though. Hopefully the wind dies down for tomorrow.

Crazy stuff going on down in beeville.

Stay tuned.

As as I was about not being able to get off work, with those winds I'm not bummed anymore...

Sorry to hear about Mike.

I thought about that but what's another couple $k when you are already spending a bunch...

HAHAA.....Its WAY more then "couple $k" to go from a stock motor and stg 1 kit to a full built turbo motor and stg 2 intercooled turbo kit.... Like about $6-7k more.....not counting the AMS....

Update...

TrickTom went 244 mph into a 20 mph head wind.....He says its spinning the tire going through the traps....... head wind causing the wheel spin. Hopefully he can get a clean pass first thing in the morning before the wind starts kicking again.

Remember I've got a Gen-II so I can't just bolt it on with a spacer plate. I've got to get valves, springs, etc. anyway so it's a little over $8k for base 300whp setup. Only a couple grand more for the rods/pistons and tranny upgrades to go 400whp+...
