old skool CB what??

A while back one of my customers approached me trying to sell me his sons bike. He said "just give me 500 for it". i went to check it out and as i thought it has been sitting out side for awhile with some plastic tarp on it, some rust, some parts missing here n there etc. i said i'd think about it.

many months pass by and he comes back and saids "hey i'll take 200 for it." i said ok i'll think about it. i dont really need another project bike and could use the time that im going to spend on it drinking and such.

skip to today he comes in for an oil change and tells me "hey u still want the bike?" i tell him "not really i dont really want/need a project." he replies "well i'll just give it to ya..." cool i'll come get it later when im off

so its a CB something... i have no clue what it is... he does have a title. i have seen it and held it, he just couldnt find it when i picked it up. 750, 900, 1100? 1982 or 1983 (older than me) anyone know of a site that i can check what all i have.

what i do know (that i think matters)

I4 DOHC
single front disc (some had dual)
spoked wheels
13 cooling fins on block+head (ive heard this differentiates the cc's)
1982 or 1983 not sure, have to see title or check vin later (apparently thats when they switched "series"
thats all that i can remember at the moment that i think matters

pics WILL be posted later. this will probably be a fun-ish build, i plan to restore its glory.

Got any pics?
Single front disc? Most of the I4's came with dual discs by the early '80's.
What's the 10 letter or number in the VIN?

Probably a CB750K. I had one. Spoke wheels, single disk front, drum rear, Kerker header, brown....

(wish I still had it, the CB200 and the RZ350's....)

Judging from the seat and tailsection it's a CB750C Nighthawk.

I don't think that is the right seat or tail.... probably why the side covers are missing...

Notice that '79 is the first year the tail light got a cowl as opposed to being on a bracket on the rear fender.

After looking at it on a full size PC screen I agree. Looks like someone took the Nighthawk seat and tail and tried to graft it on to a K model.

There is a Honda CB750 site. Some "choppers" built out of them and some original restorations...but a LOT of good info.
It's more focused on the SOHC cb750 (pre-79 models) but a lot of guys have the DOHC version like you do.
