New tires, jets and quandaries...

So... I think we are out of the "cold" weather till the fall...

I install my summer pilot jets, synch carbs and install new shoes and then realize... I ordered the wrong size front tire...

How suck. Not about to put the old one back on so I put it all together and figure I'll just ride it till the new one I order tonight gets in next week.

BUT....

It really rides well!

That is the quandary. It is supposed to be a 110/80-17 (yeah, old man bike tire) but I ordered a 110/70-17. It looks gay with like a inch between the tire and fender but it really handles well....

Do I say eff it and run the gay tire or put the right one on so I don't get laughed at....

Put a 120/70 in it and have the best of both worlds; it'll fill the fender and handle better.

It's a narrow rim. 120 will pinch to bad....

The 110 is fine it's just the 10% if aspect ratio is more then you'd think till you put it under the fender....

(I know the correct solution is to put the correct weight springs in the forks and drop the clamps 10mm but I'm too cheap....)

Good bikes. Lightweight, easy on the throttle and decent brakes.

I'm afraid of how much of a jack hole I'd ride like if I had another 50hp....

It's the perfect commuter, 50mpg, has enough hp to get you through traffic,
old fart like me costs less then 2 bills for full coverage for the year and if I was to throw it down the road, I wouldn't cry a drop.

I leave the keys in it all the time.... kinda like a old car, if someone is willing it steal it, they probably need it worse then you.

The shorter sidewall (70 series instead of 80 series), will feel firmer, thus more reactive. I say leave the 110/70 on there. It should not have any negative effects.

I'm going to look at it in the light again today, if I can stand the gay I'm leaving it on. I drug toes in twice as many places this morning as normal...

Emmett, you could always redrill the fender and lower it.

Leave it. Nobody but you is going to notice the difference.

I thought about lowering the fender....

I have been looking at it everytime I walk past it this morning and I don't think most people would notice...

I'm going to leave it as is....

(I don't think there is enough room on the fender to lower it enough to make any real difference and it'd be easier to just get the correct tire...)
