Parts rusted together

So I was trying to replace the exhaust on the XR70 and it seems the tip of the exhaust is rusted onto the head. Had a of a time trying to get it off with no success, any ideas? I did try WD40 and a hammer and chisel.

not really possible, theres a gasket made of soft metal, and the cylinder head itself is aluminum, while the exhaust is steel. can you take a picture, or find one on the internet to help describe what you are talking about?

Use Aerokroil (the oil that kreeps). It's pretty hard to find. Not everyone carries it.

if you could get a picture facing into the exhaust port it would sure help me. I haven't seen a 50 head in quite some time so another angle will help build a plan of attack. If I was in the situation that you are in I would have been spraying that thing with penetrating oil every hour that I was home. It appears "dry" in the photos IMO.

Can any of you mini guru's tell me if there is a "coupling" or "shoulder" at that ? If I recall correctly there is a , a gasket, and then the headpipe correct?

I know right, I cant believe someone still hasnt came and fixed it for me. Sprayed it with some Liquid Wrench, we'll see if that does any good.

These can all aide in removing rusted parts:

Quote:
-Liquid Wrench (hard to beat)
-PB Blaster (really gets into tight areas)
-CRC 3-36 (Wish I had more of it, great stuff, most all CRC products are great)
-WD-40
-Marvel Mystery Oil (awesome, but takes some time)
-ATF (Great for long soaks to remove even coating of rust)
-vinegar (fast, but will remove more than needed sometimes!)
-used motor oil (slow soak)
-kerosene
-diesel fuel

Permatex Anti-Seize compound. Found at your local autoparts store.

Also you can try acetone, brakefluid and WD 40 in equal portions. I have also used a can of tri flo that works good.
hope this helps a lil
