Cool 4.16.2011 Lindsey Foundation Ride for the Bear

April 16th (Saturday) 2011.

I have three friends from a church group that I've ridden with for 7yrs that invited us.

In the registration packet there is multiple levels of donations, starting w $35 for a patch, tshirt, meal ticket, 2 door prize tickets etc. Come out and help make a difference!!!!!

Our Event Coordinator for this year will once again be Ray Cooley.

Our Ride will start at the WalMart SuperCenter, 23561 Hwy. 59 in Porter TX. "Registration" will begin at/about 8:AM. Starbucks will once again be with us to provide coffee and hot chocolate to our Riders and Volunteers. "Kickstands Up" at/about 9:AM. After approx. 100 miles, the Ride will end at Bayshore Park, 5437 East FM 646 in Bacliff TX. There we will have a meal catered by Catfish on Wheels. We will also have both a Silent and a Live Auction.

Specific Route instruction can be found on the website:

http://www.lindsayfoundation.org/

The Lindsey Foundation:
Mission Statement:

The Lindsay Foundation is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to assist families with resources necessary to provide medical treatment, therapies and rehabilitative equipment in order to improve the quality of life for their special needs children.

Operations:

The Lindsay Foundation is funded solely by donations from the public. We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization and as such we can offer donors a tax deduction for gifts. Contributions are tax deductible to the full amount allowed by law.

All work is done on a voluntary basis.

The Beginning

Lindsay Nannett McMillan was born on February 25, 1984. She was a beautiful, happy child. It soon became apparent that Lindsay was not going to lead a healthy life. Numerous hospitalizations, doctors, specialists and therapy became part of "normal" life for Lindsay and her family. What also became part of normal life was the constant battles to gain the necessities of her life. Expensive formulas, therapies, medical equipment, non-covered medical procedures, and later nursing care, led to fights with insurance companies and bureaucracies. On March 3, 1999, Lindsay lost her fight for life. She touched so many people in her life that The Lindsay Foundation was formed in her memory. We have the hope that no other family will have to fight so hard to receive the assistance that is needed in order to provide for the children that they love. It is a parent's worst nightmare to realize that their child has needs that cannot be met. I know first-hand. I am Lindsay's mom and the founder of The Lindsay Foundation. I loved my little girl more than life itself. That she had medical problems was not a burden. Not being able to provide all that she needed was. No parent should have to fight the way we did. No child should have to do without because, financially, the parent can't provide. This is our goal and my dream.

Laurie McMillan-Hammond

Lindsay's Mom

It is my recommendation to wear adequate gear for the ride and observe patience w the riding community. If it is in your heart to attend but do not have the funding, PM me w adequate time prior and I'll see what I can do to raise donation and gas fees.

Really? No interest?

Guess it is considered fundraising work for a good cause, not the usual self endulging, over priced, poor health meal and excuse to stare at some womans chest and plan w your buds how she's coming home w u... u know the waitress that u haven't a shot w but she had u at "can I get u something to drink?"

If that's all, food is included, ill wear a bikini and serve u.

Bwuaahahaha

I'm riding to Dallas that friday - daughter is having some surgery. If I make it back in time (and in good enough shape) I may try to do it. Is the $35 per bike, or per individual? I'd be 2-up most likely.

There's different rates for rider/2-up etc. Different rates for different packages. $35 was for the starting, single rider.
