What was your first bike?

I'm sure this has been done before, but nothing wrong with bringing back old memories, right?

Whatever is more memorable to you, first bike ride or first bike you owned.

I grew up tearing around Trinity, TX on a YZ80, but my most memorable bike was my first street-oriented motorcycle.

I told my parents I was interested in riding when I was 17. Not having the money to plop down on something new, we brought home my uncle's 1983 Honda Nighthawk 550, with a shaft drive.

I got it for free, and immediately got to work. The first thing I did was get new tires and a battery, since I KNEW these needed replacing. Pulled the gas tank and coated the inside, then got to work dis-assembling the carbs, cleaning them, and putting it all back together. The air-box was trashed so I got 4 pod filters for it as well. These actually flowed too much air, and I didn't have a jet kit, so I used tape to block off part of the filters and restrict air flow.

The mufflers were rusted, the tach didn't work, and the fork seals leaked, but once I got it running (and after the MSF and licensing and gear) I rode the out of that thing. I rode it everywhere I could, whenever I could. I had one race, against a PT Cruiser, and I barely won

It never died on me, and I sold it when I got my next bike, but above all others I wish I still had it. It would be a great bike to teach some of my friends to ride on!

My mother's uncle rode for Bultaco in the Isle of Man TT races and "dropped his bike" at about 110. This caused him to lose most of the skin on his back as well as a couple of toes.

This incident, and the ensuing painful recovery, caused my mother to issue the phrase "If I catch you on a bike I'll break your legs !!". So at 16 when some of my friends for sport mopeds I stayed on a bicycle then at 17 (legal age to drive a car in the UK) my parents helped me pay for driving lessons (out test is far mode difficult to pass than a Texas 3 right turns, 3 left turns and a parallel park).

Fast forward 30 years. At some point in 2009 I happened to mention that I would like to get a bike. A Friend who was also interested bought me a gift certificate to Awesome Cycles for my BRC. We took the class August 22/23 went to the DPS office on the 24th and had a brand new FZ6 delivered 25th.

Thought I could keep it a secret from my, now 70 year old, mum, but when home on vacation last year my 7 year old son happened to mention Dad's motorbike. Well let's just say that Mum was less than impressed.

So I am now 48 years old and still riding MY FIRST bike and loving every moment !!

Yamaha 500 cruiser. I was 16 at the time, had never ridden a bike before. After I bought the bike I asked the seller how to ride it, then had him put it in the street and point it in the direction I needed to go and off I went.....been riding ever since.

No, but I dropped it like 4 times while coming to a stop, lucky me, it was always to the right, into the soft grass in the ditch.

2008 Suzuki DL650 (V-Strom) Used with 2k miles on it. I should have gotten a more street oriented bike though like a Yamaha FZR 600. The wee-strom is not bad though for sure...
