drive the beater till it serves no purpose, save your cash, and upgrade to something else down the line. its how the rich get rich. no payments=mo cash!! i bought a $3000 truck for work, put $500 into it initially to make it safe and roadworthy, then maybe about another $500 in some minor repairs and new brake pads and tires. put nearly 50,000 miles on it in the last 6 months doing hotshot deliveries and the return on this "investment" has been about 10 times what i got in it. "live like no one else now, so that later...you can live like no one else." $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ congrats on the beater!

Hey man, dont listen to anyone who's laughing at you, While your driving a paid off car they are working overtime to afford a car note for something worth half what they owe on it.

I drive a 1990 Suburban with a 6.2 diesel, it's got over a quarter million miles and except for needing a new rear end it has never given me any problems.

I used to pay $350 a month for a car note plus another $200 a month for full coverage insurance on something I didn't need, I bought that suburban a few years ago for $1200, and figured at $550 a month in savings this thing would pay for itself in less than 3 months.. after that I am making a profit.

Assuming you only put $450 of that into a savings account and the other $100 away on whatever, thats over $20,000 in your bank account and not ford motor credits after only 4 years

So let them laugh all they want, I say the worse car the better (so long as it's mechanically in shape)
