Question New Helmet

Ok guys, Its only been about a week using this forum and it has been an amazing resource.

So I need everyone's opinon. I am looking for a new helmet.

I tried on the Shoei RF-1100 Large and it fit perfect. People who have Arai helmets tell me, once you own one you will never go back. The RX-Q is the one for my head. The Bell Ride Smart-1 and the Scorpion EXO-1000 are on the list.

In order of Cost

Arai RX-Q
Shoei RF-1100
Bell Ride Smart-1
Scorpion EXO-1000

Where will I be getting the best value?

I spent a lot of time trying on different helmets when I was shopping.

I wanted an Arai because I heard great things about them. However, I could not find one that fit my head shape well.

The Shoei RF-1100 fit the shape of my head PERFECTLY. I went with the RF-1100 and absolutely love it.

Go with what fits the best, regardless of the brand! A cheap good-fitting helmet will be safer than the most expensive ill-fitting helmet.

Fit is always the most important thing to consider, but if the Aria and the Shoei feel like its a toss up, Arai 100%. I've owned an Arai and currently have a Shoei and ill be honest... I hate it. Hate. It.

Everything about an Arai is better, better visor, better seal, better vents, lighter, and you get the privelage of showing riding around with the best of the best.

If you're looking at Shoei, give the qwest a try. It is a little cheaper than the RF, but you get most of the features. It is also unbelievably comfortable and quiet.

I'd go with either the Arai or Shoei, whichever fits you best. I own both brands( Corsair and X-11 though) and they're on another level.

EDIT: CodyGP is right. My Arai seems to have better optics, it seals a bit better as well. That alll could have changed with the X-12 and RF-1100 though. Comparing my previous models though I reach for my Arai EVERY time.

Thanks floyd. We need to do that. I think I am going to try on the RX-Q today. Ill let you know how it fits.

I am suprised more people havent commented on the scorpion or the bell.

The Ride Smart-1 is supossed to be a direct competitor to the RF-1100.

You forgot the new HJCs. They're great helmets. PM Patrick about them.

I voted Shoei because that's what I have. But go try on each of them and see which one you like the best.

Buy this one and you'll love it Comes in many color schemes, including the Ben Spies limited edition. If you can't see it in the picture it is the RPS-10

I forgot to say this earlier but Ya, That does look really nice? How much was that? Did you try any other helmets before getting this one? What were your impressions?

I think I paid around 300 for it. I've rode since '02 off and on and have had several helmets. This is my favorite for sure, but it is slightly more expensive than the others. Not everyone has 6-8 bills to throw down on a helmet, and with this one I believe you get the best bang for your buck. It was also highly recommended by Motorcycles Unlimited as well.
