Yes,.......

1. If you have plenty of money to make payments and insurance.
2. If you ragged out the R1 and you feel that it needs a lot of maintenance
3. If you just darn feels like it.

2007 GSXR 1000
2007 Kawi ZX10R (SOLD)
2006 Kawi ZX6R (SOLD)
2005 Suzuki GSXR 600 (SOLD)

Id do it!

I had the choice to get a ZX10R when i got my bike but i rode my buddies and yes it HAULED but i couldnt corner as good with it cause the 600 is so much lighter and easier to throw around. A 600 has all the power i really need anyways so i so go for it!

Just curious, what year is your bike? What year and make is the bike your looking at?

...unless as somebody said before...you wore out your R1 and it would cost too much to get it back up to par...

Depends what you wanna do..

If track days is what you seek or hitting twisties is like a once a week thing, then go for it . You'll become much more faster, smoother and will help your riding confidence and experience alot.

But if all you wanna do is go staight, dodge through traffic or pop wheelies (like the majority of guys on this forum like to do ) then stick with the R1.

I dont know you well so i cant says yes or no, but the above two situations might help in your deciding, what ever you pick let us knwo.

In that case - get an older R6 (all out track bike for $3-4k). And keep the R1 for street?

That would be a good but pricey way to go. But that's if you do atleast more then 8 track days per year. Or else it coule be expensive.

Why the new R6? If you dont mind me asking - an older pre safety drilled all out track bike with a salvage title can be had pretty cheap now.

And if you can wait for a month or two - season's about to end, you'll see a good amount of 600/750 cc track bikes for sale. Why not wait for that? :eh:

You fly through the corners now. I'm sure that you'll be even faster in the corners with the 600 but your straightway top speeds aren't gonna be as high. That might be a good thing though. You'll be able to brake later with a lighter bike.

I'm really gonna miss the horsepower if i do this, i've given it serious thought, i may be testing out an 04' Gixxer 600 on the 30th. IF it suits me well and i like it I will prolly trade up for it. The technology alone is worth the trade i think, not much is done to the 600 and everything has been done to the R1. I spent lots of money on the 1 so, i'll be starting all over i guess. I just don't like the power delivery of the Suzuki's but, then again i'm now used to having about 140 hp at the rear wheel.
