Harris County Tax Office
6000 Chimney Rock Rd, Houston, TX 77081

I don't think you can get the bike registered (sticker) unless the title is in your name. You can do the title transfer at the above
location too

You can get the bike inspected at the Sticker Stop on Bellaire near 59, next to Taco Cabana

Just take it to any inspection place. it is cheap... like 12.00

other than that, just take it to the tax office and get it registered.

I heard that to transfer the title the cost would be 10% to 15% of the bike value based on KBB or some source. If i riding with inspection on date and sticker out of date, is there any ticket from Mr/Mrs. Police for that ?

Yea, if registration or inspection sticker is expired, it's a ticket

You have to have insurance too, and a motorcycle license. Wear gear and don't crash

There you go, info for transfering title:

http://www.txdmv.gov/protection/buyi...ed_vehicle.htm
http://www.txdmv.gov/vehicles/titles/title_vehicle.htm

I hope you bought the bike for cheap, because you'll get raped with the penalty fees. 25 bucks for every 30 days the registration is expired.

i dont' remember how true that is.

My bike registration was out for a good year or two. stopped riding and then i went to DPS and I think it cost me like $65 or something. Even got a new plate. I just told the lady the bike been sitting in the garage for the past years and I want to start riding it again.

But I will find out this weekend since I just bought another used bike that I need to transfer title, register, and get inspection.

The sticker on my bike had been expired for over a year when I bought mine. I didn't get fined cuz the date on the bill of sale showed that I wasn't in possession of the bike during that time. I just paid the title transfer amount and got my sticker

I have an 02 r6.
The title transfer was close to $300. They explained to me that they charge 6% of the value of the bike plus the other fees (sticker, plates, tax, etc.)

Yep... you gotta have a bike registered... AND inspected... AND transfer the title.

These are things you must take into consideration when talking about the asking price of a bike.

It it easy to have $5K to spend on a bike, and fall into the trap of spending that $5K all on the bike, leaving no money left over.

Every bike I have bought has been pretty much out of tread on the tires... and 2 of em right about to be out of registration.... ALL of em you gotta pay the sales tax on.
