I was in the second position on that ride. There was a rider sitting in the ditch with his bike on the kickstand. The ride leader at the time didn't see the rider, but I did.

The reason Abear went off is that when he saw the rider in the ditch, he locked up his front wheel and lost steering control

It was 949. The rider that Abear saw in the ditch was there because he had crashed before we rode through.

Because he was there. I too looked at the rider in the ditch. As we approached the turn the rider was dead ahead. As you can see, Abear went in a straight line and landed next to the rider.

I saw him, I was going in to the turn, I was getting set up and when I started to lean in to the turn he caught my eye and thats what I focused on.

The rider in the ditch had been sitting there long before our group and Abear approached

Im the guy that was in the ditch when everyone went by, I did the same thing in the video, kept staring at the ditch and what do you know. I high sided into the ditch straight onto my left shoulder, would of moved my bike out of the way so I didnt freak anybody out but I couldnt move my arm. Kinda feel bad you wrecked, most likely wouldnt have happened if I was able to move somewhere else, sorry bro. Good news is my shoulder is getting better, nothing was broke just a little seperation, badly bruised and my colar bone pokes out a lil.

LOL. Never had any people go down on any rides I was on until the last couple times.

I saw that guy in the ditch but went about my business so to speak.

Luckily it was as minor as it was.

Yep, with help from some other experienced riders we took 36 bikes to F'Ville and back with no incidents.

There is a new wave of fresh squids every single year, luckily this guy might see his second season. The longer you're in this game the more you see people come and go. . .some are gone for good.
