Float could be set wrong or could just be some dirt on the needle that is not allowing it to stop the flow of fuel

Maybe you hit the float while cleaning. Mine had been leaking out the overflow on my DR650. I was sure the float was set right. Took it apart the other day and it wasn't. I paid more attention to what I was doing and realized that I was hitting it somehow when putting it back together, bending the tab that threw it out of whack. All good now.

Consistency is key

As much as you drop the race card, I thought this would end up going in that direction anyway, so I skipped ahead 2 or 3 pages.

Could just be between the needle valve and seat. Either way you'll probably ahve to pull it apart. Double check the float height and be sure the needle valve is clean as it can be...

for what its worth, I was just giving you a hard time. Find one of my posts where I have stated something overtly or implicitly racist, thats not an obvious joke when viewed in context.

If that is the problem, then the float would need to go down into the float bowl more so gas causes it to float sooner, causing the needle to shut the flow off.
Do you have the manual for the bike? The float setting has a specific dimension. For example, my DR650 is 14.7 mm from the deck of the carb body to the top of the float (holding the carb upside down).

Could have just been some dirt on the needle that got washed away. Good luck with it

Watch out for that nasty old gas folks, it sure can clog up jets and cause bikes to run like . Also, Star Bright Star Tron is your friend as a fuel additive. I forget which is the product name and which is the parent company name but you get the idea. It fights the effects of ethanol.
