New guy questions

Sorry, I'm sure y'all get tons of these threads and I did try to search but i kept getting a fatal error...

I don't want to spend a whole lot, just want an old used bike that i can put around town when my car is on jacks. suggestions of what to look for?

i saw a ysr? (models are foreign to me when it comes to bikes) that looked pretty cool. just something that is street legal, not worried about age, just want something that runs good and is reliable.

Sorry for spamming, trying to find where all the people hang/respond on this forum

By the time you mod it up, you would have been able to buy a real motorcycle. Not bagging on rucks', just saying.

+1 on the 500cc. I've had mine about a year and i'm not close to bored with it yet. If you get a 250, you will likely be ready to get rid of her in just a few months. They are fun bikes, but lack power..

a decent 500cc will probably cost u about $2000 with lots of miles on it. Just becareful going TOO cheap, it can cost plenty of $$$ keeping her running and in decent shape ( i mean this for just about any bike)

+2 on the 500, THAt particular 500 has been babied. I consider myself an experienced rider, Ive ridden many mile and on many diff motorcycles, and the 500 is still a hoot. Speaking of, Ive been riding mine to work here lately as it gets me about 55mpg!

Cheapest in Houston is Lone Star College at $155. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Welcome to the forum.

Errbody likes the ninja 250 alot as a cheap starter bike. It's a good start.

The 250 is a fun bike. You will certainly know all about shifting by the time you're done with it!

+3

You won't find a cleaner 500 outside of a new bike dealership.

that is a clean bike, but i dont have that money yet. ill keep her in mind as im saving up. almost put 1300 up for a ruckus, but decided to save and wait it out and not jump on the first thing i see. the more i see those little ruckuses though, they look pretty cool. im not worried about speed, i can still get up and move fast enough for a ticket in my integra
