I don't change bikes ofter(ever in 5 years) so that doesn't concern me. It looks awesome, and comes in GREEN! I'll be damned if I'm paying over twice PitBull prices for one though! It also doesn't help that in typical Kawi fashion one of my spool mounts broke off.

They do that a lot on Kawasakis. If you look at your 10R each one only has two chintzy little spot welds. If you have a spool/bobbin on there and it hits the ground you can pretty much kiss it goodbye. Some have even bent or broken off from sitting on the bike while on a stand. I was using the wayyy too big Shogun ones though. May have faired better if I were using one of the smaller metal ones.

If both tabs are there go have the backside welded. If the unthinkable happens you'll be glad you did. I can't complain though, in 36,000 miles this is actually my biggest complaint.

They typically won't break unless you lay it down.

Princess, if you have the old piece American Heliarc can weld it back on fairly cheap.
If you don't Pitbull makes aluminum replacement ones for less than $20 and you can have those welded on.
I did them on my Bandit for less than $75 for everything.

Well you could have them weld both sides if you want, but the welds obviously wouldn't be black, then you'd be left with either a natural finish, or trying to paint to match. Either way it's better than the hole I have in my swingarm.

Can you sit on the bike? Start the bike and go through gears? All of these I can do on my $80 stand...

aren't the big Bertha style spools designed to be able to take a fairly reasonable crash (ie. lowside)?

i say that lightly, knowing that NO crash is reasonable.

Depends on how it lands. Like everything else these day, the bikes sacrifice durability for weight savings.
I have a number of customer with Kawis running Shoguns with no issues, including some that have gone down. I wouldn't stress out about it.
