Embarrassing first fall ! :(

What a clown.... i've been reading recently about ppl with sight fixation problems, and wouldn't u know it, i do it looking at a freaking crack in the pavement.

was getting off the HOV lane on 290, was going maybe 25 -30mph, and for some reason got fixated with a small gap in the pavement. i don't lean enough and end up going straight for the curb. hit the brakes enough to slow to probably 10-15 mph, but ended up hitting my front tire to the curb enough to put myself on my side.

No damage to myself except for my ego. lots of small 1-2 inch scratches, and pictured below a dent into the side that slowly leaked out a fluid that looks like Ecto-Cooler HI-C. ( Acutally wondering what that was...coolant of some sort? light green color in the 2nd picture) She rode fine on the way home, but just curious if a slow spill like this warrants a trip to the shop or a once over.

THis is further proof that Noobs should start out with a basic, non-expensive starter bikes. I have plennntyyyyyy of learned to do....

well, that's your radiator that took the hit. Looks like coolant to me. Glad you're ok

You might have a minuscule hole in your radiator or hose clamp is loose. Clean up the grit and see if its leaking.

So do you want me to haze you now or when I see you next? lol. Doesn't seem to need a trip to the shop but I would replace the radiator and I'm pretty sure you could get one on the cheap considering it's a 500.

Lesson learned. Your bike follows your eyes. Glad it wasn't serious.

Got lucky myself, my fixation lesson landed my on a sidewalk. Fortunately the neighborhood had small ramp style curbs. No damage, but I did have to play it off as an intended "trick" move. Yeah right.....

I'm thinking it'll start leaking again when the engine gets hot. Was that 3 minutes with the engine sitting, and cooling off? Anyway, just keep any eye on it. If it leaks a little bit with the outside temps around 80, it'll likely get worse when we approach 100 and our engines get hotter.

And where was that gap on the 290 HOV? I want to be sure I don't look at it!

Everyone has their "first time"...or they will eventually.
I remember mine. Dumb with 3 little dogs in her lap pulled out in front of me. Laid it over and popped it right back up then stopped in the next parking lot to calm down from the adrenaline and assess the damage to the bike...none!!

+1. Very slick stuff, run the bike till the thermostat opens, you're getting flow, and make sure it's not leaking.

Thx guys, i haven't taken her out since tuesday, so i'll probably do a quick 15-20 min. ride and check for any leakage/ engine temp. level.

as for the gap off 290, it was nothing to be worried about. it's off the downramp on bingle/tidwell exit off HOV. i was just being a freaking doofus
