R6 Fender Eliminators and Inspection Tags

Today another great member of MH sold me an unused integrated taillight for my 2009 R6. But, now I am stuck with the dilema of getting a fender eliminator to get rid of the nasty stock scaffolding that Yamaha engineered to hold the licence plate.

I've been looking around but not really finding any good options for licence relocation brackets. Also, if I relocate the plate then I am not going to have space for the inspection plate.

What do you folks do with your R6s? Has anyone relocated their plates? What do you do with the inspection plate?

a lot of people put the sticker on the swing arm.

I wouldnt worry too much about the sticker being visible from behind as long as your license plate is.

it is ok to have the sticker on the swing arm, some cops told me that i have to have it easy to see like the license plate does...

but longest its on the bike you should be fine!

now on the other hand... i got this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/R6-20...Q5fAccessories

and it works great!

Thanks for the ideas folks. Will put the inspection sticker on the swingarm. Also, thanks for the pics.

BUT, has anyone relocated their plate above the hugger on their R6? What did you use to relocate?

just dont put the plate somewhere, where a cop will get a reason to pull you over for.

No matter where you move it to i'm sure there is an officer out there that will find the plate obstructed or hard to read.

I think I know where I am going to mount it and I am not going to use a kit. Has anyone here been pulled over for lot having a lit license plate? Wondering if I should buy some LED Light Bolts for the licence plate.

I heard that fender eliminator kits are illegal. If so why? I ask because the bike that I just got has an eliminator kit on it. License plate is VERY visual nor is it obstructed in any way.

My inspection sticker is on the swingarm. I really want to get it relocated back under the plate. I do NOT want to give a LEO any reason to harrass me. I just wanna ride... safely as well.

After posting this I checked out a few of the R6 forums to see what they were doing as far as mounting plates above the hugger. There are two push fasteners on the undertail of the R6 (I think 08+ but I could be wrong) that are the exact same width as the holes in the licence plate. Greggs sells a licence plate hole plug that fills in where the previous fender was attached so you can get a smoother look under your bike. Also bought a couple of LED license plate bolts to fasten the plate to the bottom of the bike and still have it lit for legality.

Once it is all done I will post some pics!
