What to do?!

An MH member sold me what he called "in really good conditions" used rear sets for $175. He said they'd be an easy put on that I could do myself. When I went to go pick them up he mentioned the right one had the peg broken but that he'd get that fixed and send it over as soon as possible so I only took the left one home.
Two weeks later and still no right rear set, BUT HERE IS THE THING...The left one that he did give me was all bent! The shifter doesn't work from how bent it is and the pole/rode thingy connected to it is twisted as well and they clash.
When I contacted him in regards to the right one he said I needed to be patient and that two weeks was not enough time, I explained the situation with the left one and he responded with "hit it with a hammer or place it in a vise" and "someone who has never installed them before is 100% guaranteed to not mount the shifter right. You can't get them to work because you don't know how to install them".

Frustrated as I was I asked for my money back and although he agreed I have a feeling I'm never going to see that money.
This morning I went over to my buddy's shop and he attempted to straighten out the shifter as much as he could so now it's somewhat usable.

SO WHAT DO I DO NOW? do I send back the left rear set and hope I get my money back? or do I keep it and see how many more weeks it takes for him to send the other one?

That's easy.

If you like what you got (and what you paid for it) and are willing to wait..

Otherwise box it up and send it back, with proof of deivery and signature. Save all emails/coorespondance... but unless he is "stand up" it' or miss if you see any of your $$$ back.

Don't let him play you just because of your gender...

Did you get pics prior to the sale so you knew what you were buying? Often as not, used parts carry no guarantee.

But the set may look ok in your hand, once you bolt it then you can have clearance issues due to it being bent.

1. Send the rearset back, hope to get your money
2. Hope to get the right rearset and the set it complete

if there is still some contact, there is no need to call anyone out now, but this thread may have already pushed that envelope. If no money in hand, or other rearset by a certain time discusesd between you and the seller, then a callout is all in fairness after there is definitely no resolution.

It is always buyer beware, however with that said if the seller defrauded you (saying they are in "really good condition") get Wayne Dolcefino after him. If that doesn't work, then it would make sense to call the person out, that may do a couple things. 1- they may give you your money back 2-peer pressure may be so great they apologize and get you what you originally thought you were purchasing. But if the receipt says As -Is I hate to say that your out of luck and next time take someone with you that maybe more knowledgeable, nothing wrong with that.

It's buyer beware here on MH...
Posts may even be eliminated in for sale threads that would hinder the sale of an item. So again buyer beware.
