RIP, that is a very sad story. It is always a tragedy when a father buries his son.

RIP.. sad in so many ways
Group with dad was leading, down from OK for spring break

Rider Down

Looks like a typical decreasing radius turn
Ran wide in the first half
Skid mark at edge of road says rear brake lock up

"speed wasn't a factor"? Too fast for unknown roads it looks to me

He was way wide at the point he locked the brake and left the road... they said he had been lagging back prior so probably playing in the corners

Please be careful on un-familiar roads. There is no run off and lots of solid objects out there.

and i doubt he appreciates having to scoop up bodies on a monthly basis and notifying next of kin. Try not to read too much into things, there's no telling what is going through his head. I tend to laugh in the face of death, I've seen enough of it to know it scares the out of me.

thats just a country boy that has probably seen waaaaaaay to many young men die on that street.

and to my untrained eye, it looks like speed might have been one of the main causes of this accident.

RIP, that turn doesnt look all that bad from the pic. Maybe target fixation or something wrong with the bike, looks almost like he just went straight off the road and didnt turn at all. Sad either way

Pics don't show it well... if it's the one I am thinking it starts nice and gradual, then hooks back tighter.... he was wide right about the time he needed to be turning in for the second half of the turn. One pic shows a single black line from the rear brake leading off the edge.

Yep know all to well about those turns, kind of a double apex you think you already made it and then it starts to turn again. It is hard to tell with the pics, I wonder if that is the same place that guy went off a couple years ago on the black R1. Came in hot and just took it off rode, if I am not mistaken that is the same corner, and he almost hit that historical sign.

Pretty sure it is... kinda like Pigpen's corner on 3090.. some corners catch people out time and time again... theres one Southbound on 224 the same way, with off camber thrown in for good measure.
