97 zxr heat stalls

Just bout the bike. Has never stalled at a red light. If I get in heavy traffic she will start to get hot then the fan kicks on but it doesn't cool the bike off. When the fan comes on which it does it stays on. Soon as it gets to hot it will start to stall. Everytime this happends my water pump is fine. radiator is fine. Does anybody have a remedy. I heard of vapor lock or maybe a hose is bad has anybody else had this problem. Let me know.

The symptoms may say otherwise.

fill out your profile and we'll know where you are located. once we know that basic information, we can tell you what local shop best suits your needs and other members can volunteer their expertise with some hands on help. there could be several things causing your issue but we don't have enough background info to narrow it down.

Older Kawis are notorious for weak cooling systems.

They also like to melt the plastic fan blades. So check that first.

Many people add a manual switch so the fans can run all the time in traffic.

Flush the coolant, replace with water wetter or similar. Check the radiator cap that it is holding correct pressure.

Verify it has a good tune.. retarded timing or clogged air filters will make it run hot.

Also where does it idle hot? Try setting it around 1500 rpm to move more water at idle.
