Sound asleep. Brother came over and woke me up after the second plane hit. I woke up to "Mike, dad said to watch the new b/c planes just hit the wtc and it fell on the white house." Even though I was still mostly asleep I was thinking "WTF? Impossible." Told him to slow down, think about it for a second and then spit it out. I don't think he knew what was going on either. So I woke up, he left for some reason, and I watched the media replay the carnage. I don't think I'll ever forget that day.

I had just got to the shop and was starting to change a customers oil and I heard on the radio that a SMALL plane had hit one of the WTC towers. I didn't think it was that big a deal till I walked in to cash out the customer and saw on CNN a BIG plane go into the second tower. The customer and I at the same time said "HOOOOOOOOLY SH*T". I will remember that customer for the rest of my life. I was glued to the TV all day long. We had people pulling up to our shop just to watch TV.

Later that night my Grandparents called and said they were walking out of the Mall in Butler, PA (50 miles away from flight 93 crash site) and said they saw a plane fly over the Mall real low rocking back and forth haulin a$$. RIP to all the lives lost on that day.

check out the link below it's pretty moving...

I was working in one of the tallest buildings in downtown HOuston on the 70th floor at the time. Needless to say, we were all looking out the windows, until we got the OK to evacuate the building. Downtown was like a scene from a movie, everyone calmly walking to their parking areas after being evacuated from thier buildings all looking up, not knowing what would happen next.

This is from one my V-Rod brethren:

"ve been sitting here at my computer for almost 2 hours trying to find the right words... Ive erased this post countless times but I keep coming back... Ive been trying hard all morning to NOT remember that day... Ive been trying for 5 years NOT to remember that day... I thought maybe coming on the forums would be a distraction but once a year it seems there is absolutely no place I can escape...
I was working as a New York City Police Officer that day in Brooklyn South.... I saw the 2nd plane hit the tower, I was so close I could feel the heat. We were one of the first units to get mobilized and sent across the river to help. Sometimes I wonder how we made it out. I cant even begin to put words to the horror of that day... I worked at Ground Zero for 29 days straight 12- 20 hours a day. At first I was on the rescue detail digging on hands and knees mostly until one day we came in and it had become a "recovery detail".... Not a word was spoken that day.... On the 30th day I was sent home with pneumonia.
I lost my best friend and first partner Andy Brunn on 9/11/01. He had left the NYPD and joined the NYC Fire department. Andy was a probie on Ladder 5. He was listed as missing... So many memories ... The day of Andy's wake I remember leaving my apartment in my dress uniform. As I was walking to my car an older couple approached me, complete strangers... As the woman got closer she looked me in the eyes and began to cry... That night, as we all stood outside the funeral home, a single plane flew over, air traffic had been suspended up until that point. Everyone fell silent. That was the most gut wrenching experience you can imagine.
Andy was one of the true heros that day and its in remembrance of him that I write at all. Not one day goes by that I dont think of Andy. Not one day goes by that I dont think of 9/11 ... Andy is in a better place and will forever be loved and remembered. So I ask you all please pray for the families of those who gave all... the angels did cry that day but they cried for the living who were left to carry on. You can all remember if you like but some of us are still trying to forget..."

I was sleeping on the couch with the TV on when my aunt called me right after the the 1st tower was hit. I was calling some of my family that works in the WTC to see if they were at work and if they got out. While I was talking to one of my cousins that was getting off the subway walking toward the WTC, the 2nd tower was hit. I could hear the screaming and people saying to run away.

RIP TO ALL!! except for the terrorists hope they are all burning in

I was on the can taking a dump before I went to class when the first plane hit. It was my senior year at the University of Missouri and my roommate at the time came banging on the bathroom door telling me that I needed to come out there and see what was on TV. When he told me what had happened I imediately thought of the ww2 plane that hit the empire state building back in fourties becasue of fog. I thought that some dump pilot had lost his way. I got off the can and walked in front of the TV set just in time to see the second plane slam into the other tower.

Both my roommate and myself where standing there with our jaws dropped while we watched it. Neither of us went to class that day. We were both on the phone most of the morning with the east coast trying to find out what exactly was happening.
