Riding on seawall

Is it bad not wear a helmet when riding on seawall?, 35 mph max. Was in Gtown yesterday and saw a few guys with lids on the tail of the bike. I'm young and generally considered good looking and want to be able to holla at girls.

The seawall is a terrible place to not wear a helmet, if there is such a thing. People are distracted looking at the girlies, parking spots, etc. Sand gets in your eye. Cops galore. Drunk people. Etc.

You can easily die going 35mph without a helmet.

And besides...the girlies h0lla at a "man of mystery" more

If you are generally considered good looking its OK. But make sure you mention it to the cops if you get stopped and don't have no helmet endorsement...

Lonestar Rally 2010

http://www.khou.com/news/neighborhoo...107036498.html

Quote:
GALVESTON, Texas — A motorcyclist who crashed after losing control and skidding on trolley tracks during the weekend died late Monday, a hospital spokesman said.

The death is the only fatality in 10 motorcycle wrecks during the Lone Star Rally weekend, which drew thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts to the island.

Rick Donehoo, of La Porte, was driving south on 25th Street at 4:06 p.m. Saturday when a motorcycle in front of him slowed to turn into an alley at Avenue M, police said.

The 54-year-old then skidded on trolley tracks before slamming into the motorcycle in front of him.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Donehoo and his passenger, Donna Brady, 55, were taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch. Brady remains in the hospital in fair condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Other accidents during the motorcycle rally also were associated with the island’s trolley track system.

Two riders in separate instances went down after getting snagged in the tracks during the weekend. Both suffered minor injuries.

In another accident, a driver was ticketed after losing control of his motorcycle while "burning out" and spinning his rear wheel around and hitting a woman nearby.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver was cited for making an unsafe start from a stopped position, for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and for having no proof of insurance, according to the police report.

This story was brought to you thanks to khou.com's partnership with the Galveston County Daily News.

Secondly, unless you ride a cruiser i see any point in going to the lonestar rally...just asking for trouble.

It's hard to believe I was once this dumb when I was younger. It's bad to not wear a helmet because of the risk of serious head trauma, drooling, paralysis, medical bills, your eyeball being knocked out of the socket and dangling around like a tether ball, etc. but when you are under 21 holla-ing is much more important than your brain, so leave the lid at home and holla away.

LOL

If your ugly as wear your helmet. Nobody wants to see your ugly mug. But you might as well not wear your helmet becuase you have nothing to live for being so ugly. It's a never ending cycle of what if's...

But if your not ugly and you don't wear your helmet to holla at the girls, then you run the risk of crashing and up your face. Which would make you ugly... Reverting back to above thought process.

Do yourself a favor. Play it safe and wear a helmet. Besides, if you ARE in fact ugly and just think your generally good looking, then it would be better to wear the helmet during the 'hollaring' to mask your oblivious ugliness. Win-win if you ask me.

You'll find a lot of white people and sport bikes at LSR my friend.

Being under 21, I'm willing to bet your sum total of experience in the motorcycle world is pretty small.

Here's a hint - when you're on two wheels, you shouldn't even be thinking about who you want to "holla" at. Its things like that which cause my insurance rates to go up.

If you're not mature enough to realize that not only is it silly to "holla at the girls" from a bike, but dangerous AND the girls typically think you're a douche, then maybe you might want to consider putting the bike away until you do.

If you've ever ridden or drove on 25th street, you would know the speed limit is 25-35mph. Nowhere did it say this motorcyclist was speeding...he simply lost control over a railing. The point I was making that I also made in my 1st post was that you can die from head injury at >35mph easily.

Your head. Your life.

Then definitely take the truck. 250s are not conducive to picking up girls in bikinis.
