Question Stalling/Engine HELP

I just bought a used 2002 Suzuki Katana GSR and took it out today in front of my house. It was working great at first then I stalled a few times (it stalled bc of me though, not by itself). Now my engine wont start. Is this normal after a few stalling? or is my bike messed up? What should I do?

full of gas? kickstand all the way up?

could be you were in gear when you stalled it out. have you tried finding neutral again and starting it the clutch engaged?

if its carbed it may have a fuel petcock that has a reserve, off, and on position. maybe you flooded the carbs so turn it to the off position and crank it to burn the extra gas.

more info please

Gas is 2/3rds full and kickstand was all the way up. I did find neutral and yet it still wont start. When it happened, the lights were very dim so I thought I'd let it rest.

I put it away a couple of hours ago and went back down to check it out. It wont start. It wont even crank at all, but the light has gotten brighter.

"if its carbed it may have a fuel petcock that has a reserve, off, and on position. maybe you flooded the carbs so turn it to the off position and crank it to burn the extra gas."-------It wont crack at all. Am I supposed to turn it on first, then try to start the engine?

oh, also try rolling the bike back and forth just so you arent in a false neutral. try cranking it with the clutch engaged if you havent.

Patrick from Motorcycles Unlimited may get online tomorrow morning so he can probaly give you a better place to start.

Sounds like a dead battery. Either charge it with no more than a 6 amp charger or you can jump it off with a car, just make sure the car isn't running at all. If you still can't get it going, give me a shout Tuesday when we reopen and we can go further into it.

Thanks everyone for the quick response. Just went down and jumped it off with a car (engine off) and it cranked up fine, but it wouldn't crank on its own afterwards. Can I recharge the battery or do I have to get a new one? And if so, where can I get one for a reasonable price? What price range am I looking at?

Also, did my stalling had anything to do with the battery dying?

how long did you let the bike run after you jumped it?

if it is a bad battery you can probaly cross refrence the part # and look for one at walmart (if they carry that size there) cheaper.

Could be your battery is bad or your charging system isn't charging the battery.
Or it could just be your battery is low and needs to be fully charged. Try charging the battery overnight and check it out then. If you're still having a problem we can help you out woth parts or labor, and you'll get a MotoHouston discount.

And double check the bolts on the battery, they could be loose and making a bad connection.
