Talking Forest Gnome Ride 3.20.11

Here it goes again...

What: Forest Ride through the National Forest including 3090 w adequate stops for rest, gas and a lunch stop at Yankees Tavern in Carlos, TX.

When: Sunday the 20th of March

Where: PP69(NW corner of i45/242 Shell/McD's)

untitledmapcopy

Meeting: Mandatory meeting at 10am, KSU 1030am.

Route: Usual FG route used for the last 4 yrs.
ForestGnomegeneralride
(note: 447 part is incorrect)

Pace: Comfortable pace for all riders up to 3090 where divisions can be made w restrictions for riding.

Gear: REQUIRED Helmet, jacket, gloves. High recommendation for ankle covering shoes/riding boots and knee/shin protection.

Bikes: Adequate safety consideration for yourself and others. Tires, brakes, chain maintenance.

The Gnomes: We provide a group ride based on the MSF/BRC and RoadKing rules for riding w a staggered formation on the public roads and single file on the backroads. This ride works because the gnomes adjust to riders and try not to make anyone feel like they need to 'keep up.' Designated leaders, sweepers and go back riders will be appointed in the meeting and talk before the ride.

This is not a race. Its a cruise w ample opportunity to get up to speed in certain areas.

We do not leave riders behind. If a gap develops the leader/s of that group will slow in the straights to allow catch up. Sweeper will always stop for any rider as needed.

Any new riders w any questions may post or PM me for further details/questions.

Keep your egos at home, this is a ride to meet fellow riders, enjoy some nice roads and have a healthy lunch. This is not a race. Experience range will be new-track riders, all are welcome. Ride is open to 2-up riding.

Any about the ride can be directed to they nearly 50% of the MH population that has been on this ride. I dont want to hear it; if you dont wish to ride it please dont.

Forest Gnomes willing to volunteer please locate yourself w the usual 'FG' thanx!

1. Cali - FG

Good plan, Cali. I can't make this one, but I will surely be on one of your rides in the near future.

Miss you guys for sure!

Spoke w some of the locals in our area and they were asking about them again so we need to bring it back consistantly to welcome to new riding community. This spurred after speaking about acquaintances not being able to handle their large cc bikes on casual rides.

W experience like Bevo, Setfast and MaxGs (and not forgetting you either Joe, but those guys are originals/second gen FG's though some wont accept the FG title cuz its 'kinda ghey' ;;; which we respect lol) not only can people be educated on street riding safety etc but also be introduced to the track and its advantages.

See you guys in the near future; I plan to stagger the rides every so often Sat/Sun.

(and sorry I've been out this last couple seasons; needed more time for myself)

Hey Cali... really want to do this ride, but I'm working that Saturday... DO you do Sunday rides??? Since you rode all the way down to my end of the world last time I had a benefit run, I'd definitely be willing to meet y'all up there... Let me know if you do any Sundays...

Sorry I hadnt been around so much.

Bevo... I didnt know there was a Saturday noob ride to GSS; dam. I still need to replace a minor leak in the reservoir though. I have the reservoir; just not the time. Plus in the morning Im helping a friend that lost mobility from an accident get around, get groceries etc and take her child to the park or something. Next time!

Johnny come on out! Been a long time!

...And thanks everyone else. If you're riding track the day prior dont push yourself; it will take a few weekends to get the numbers up and have some healthy riders in the faster groups.

Till then...

Hey Beev... just figured out what that email was about... good catch...

http://www.motohouston.com/forums/im.../laughing6.gif

I'll try and make it if I have my truck back together... I try to minimize seat time to just commutes whenever the truck is up on the jack stands... can't have my toy breaking down on me too and leaving me stuck out.

I'll knwo more by Friday.

I was planning to do some parade laps on Saturday @ GSS, but it looks like over thirty riders riding out, and crowded parade laps don't sound so fun.
I think a smaller Sunday stroll thru the forest would suit me better, and the weather looks perfect.
Count me in.
Anybody riding out from the Galleria area?

Most of us signed up are already out on the Northside it appears.

Again sorry for confusion w the other ride leaving the same spot an hour prior; I honestly did look and didnt see a thread the same day(time stamp in title anyways.)

I'll be at the meet spot early to see off the other group. See you guys there!
