I should have had a helmet camera!!!!

Well a friend of mine and myself rode to Fville yesterday afternoon. We were crossing a bridge when we noticed buzzards on the road and the edge of the bridge we were crossing. We slowed down to 55mph. A buzzard dove off the edge of the bridge and was trying to gain momentum when he was right over my friend the thing looked like he stalled and hit my buddy in the helmet. The thing exploded! I never seen so many feathers it looked like a pillow fight. I saw the bird flip flop in the air and landed on the other side of the bridge and he was dead on impact. Luckily for my friend he didn't go down. We pulled over to access damage. Just had feathers in his helmet, broke part of his face shield. He is doing well today aside from a bruised shoulder.
On a lighter note after that I am angry at myself for not having a camera. Man that would have been some incredible footage. Which is a better camera? The gopro or the contour? Would like to hear what y'all have to say because I'm gonna get one in the next few weeks.

This buzzard was probably 10 lbs. or more plus the wing span was at least 3ft across. This thing was huge. Not sure if it damaged his helmet (internally) he checked but wasn't able to to verify. The padding and inside didn't loko damaged

Agreed, the Gopro is Badazz. Now, they just release an LCD attachment for the back with a waterproof/shockproof case. Cyclegear carries them for $300 but you can steal one off ebay for $230-$250.

the Contour is better if you plan on mounting it on your helmet because it doesn't stick out as much as the go pro.

Good job on staying upright.

whenever I see vultures on or along the road ahead of me I always start hitting the horn and slow down.
