Katy Toll Road/ HOV?

I need to go from 45 and 10 out to Eldrige Wednesday afternoon around 5ish.

Is the traffic going to be bad enough to try and get on the HOV while inside the loop and run it out to Eldrige and is the HOV and the Toll Road one and the same during the week?

The two extra lanes are 2 EZ Tag lanes during non-rush hour.
During rush hour they become 1 HOV and 1 EZ Tag.

I think its from 2:30pm to 8:00pm or something for the afternoon that there is an HOV/bike lane available. It's indicated on the screens which lane is which. pretty hard to screw it up.

It's totally worth it, if traffic gets bad I-10 will stack up and run anywhere from 20-45mph and worse the closer you get to fry rd, but if you're coming from 45 i would just take the HOV as far as you can regardless of traffic.

I'm not sure if there is an actual exit for eldrige, you might have to exit out of the HOV lanes early (1 - 2 miles or something) to get to eldridge.

being spring break this week, traffic is much lighter on I-10. you should be fine on the HOV lane. The left lane is always the HOV lane. I believe times are 6a-12p and then 2p-8p, M-F. Even with heavier traffic around 5, HOV flows real well.

Cool. The get on is before the loop heading west on 10 and there is a exit right before Eldrige.

If traffic looks like it is running decent I may not do it becuase I'd have to exit and then move over 4 lanes in 1/4 mile or so....

If you take it, just get off at hwy6. The HOV will run you right into the bridge that will take you to the metro station. Follow that out to hwy6 and just flip back around to get to Eldridge that way your not trying to merge into traffic.

You can use this site to check how bad traffic is and plan from there.
Very useful website. Has saved me TONS of heartache in the past.

http://traffic.houstontranstar.org/layers/

You can also view it on your phone.
Shows accidents, road closures, has live cams, updates every few minutes and you can zoom in different parts.
Also has a speed flow chart for certain areas that shows you on average what the traffic speed is is at any point of the day.
