I agree with most of the rest in this thread; the 883 has terrible resale value. Buying it new you will take a huge hit.
You cam pick them up used at great deals and they are re
Kable motorcycles with minimum problems.
In the end though it's your money, spend it as you see fit.

It's not his money though it's the banks money he wants to borrow

And even they know the 883 resale is

Buy used, pay cash.

If your credit is , they will rape you on interest for a loan. I've heard of people paying nearly 20% for a car... idiots.

If you can't get financing for a new bike, go get a loan from a credit union and then buy something used for $5K. Then just save up some money for a year and go buy what you want....

I wouldn't buy an 883 period, new or used but if that's what you want have at it. If you have 20% or more to put down, you will have a better chance at getting financed.

Ok, my credit is not that bad, I think its 650. Thats what I didnt understand, maybe my credit is extended a little far, cause of my truck and stuff. I just got a new job working with homeland security, and have disposable income. I wanted a bike that I will have no drama with, I know nothing of fixing bikes, it was just a discussion in general discussion, I just wanted to post my motorcycle story, good or bad, and get a little advice. Dont understand all the hate. But ty for all advice. I think Im going to wait a little and maybe save up, and look around a little.

Banks view cars and trucks as more of a necessity and bikes as toys and more of a financial risk, especially in this economy. If you buy used, the money you save on monthly payments should be more than enough to spend in a shop if needed for any repairs.

650 is the fine line separating 'poor' and 'fair' credit.

No credit? Better have cash.
No cash? Better have credit.

You don't seem to have either right now, unfortunately... Just wait and save up some more cash to buy a bike when you can properly afford it.

if no one buys new, then the used market deals would dry up pretty quick

Want a bike with no drama? Buy a cruiser.

LoL...yeah bcuz they are SO much more reliable than Harley Davidsons.
Seriously man...it's the modifications that make these bikes (ALL bikes) less than factory reliable. If left alone in stock form there is very little difference in reliability. Once we get to jacking with them and modifying stuff...THEN there can be "issues" come up. I know plenty of guys with cruisers that have more issues with them than I've ever had with my HD (any of them). Do I think that means HD is more reliable...NO...it just means that all bikes from all brands can be reliable and all can be a headache. It's all in how you treat them.
