It would start and die in 1 minute I know this is no ones fault but my own, but I have decided that my next bike will be brand new. So at 1 am I dont have to call my friend to come pick me up again. Thanks for the advice guys, maybe I should look into a different bike all together or preapproval.

I'm assuming you had us do the free visual inspection and test drive?
When did we check it?
What bike was it and what wound up being wrong with it? Specifics please.

I agree with most of the rest in this thread; the 883 has terrible resale value. Buying it new you will take a huge hit.
You cam pick them up used at great deals and they are re
Kable motorcycles with minimum problems.
In the end though it's your money, spend it as you see fit.

I think that you are going to end up WAY more into the 883 if you buy it new.
There are just SOOOO many used Sportsters for sale (cheap) that buying a brand new one is truly a financial mistake. The market is (and has been) FLOODED with very low mileage used Sportsters. Heck I could have bought a 2005 1200 Custom a few months ago for $4500. I passed bcuz I found a Big Twin instead for not much more $$...but there should be NO problem finding a used 883 (or 1200) Sportster for under $6,000 and with LESS than 5k miles.

I've bought and sold several HDs over the last 10 years and would NEVER buy a brand new one. There are just too many nice ones on the used market to choose from.

Just because you cant get financed, doesnt mean you have bad credit.
Many people have good credit scores but very little established credit, if that makes sense.

Also, I dont think trump has any pontiac G6's in his garage.. I think you meant G650

Another "rule to live by" just from personal experience...don't finance TOYS!!
Maybe I'm old school, but I won't finance a toy. If I can't pay cash for it...I don't need it that bad.

Primary daily driver - sure finance it
Primary home to live in - yep...finaced
Toys - NO - pay cash!!

I bought my 2007 VFR last year. I wish now that I should have bought a used one. Even though it was $2000 more for a new one. I financed it and will pay it off in a year. Next bike I buy will more than likely be a used one. Just one of those things that you take a hit when rolling out the door. You can find an honest seller that will take care of you when buying used. I know there are douchers out there that will screw buyers over. Keep in mind there are more good than bad. Ask Omer he might be able to help you out.
A friend of mine bought a used 883 a few weeks ago from a co-worker. It's 5 years old and had 5500 miles on it. He paid $3300 for it. Was a nice deal and the bike was well kept. Just think of the extra moola you would be saving. It is your money but we are looking out for fellow riders here. Just don't want to see you get screwed.
