Teknic Violator Leather Jackets?

Has anyone ever owned/worn one of the previous model (I think like 2009) Teknic violator leather jackets? They seem like they have some pretty high end features like knox armor throughout, and can zip up with their leather pants to make a full piece suit, but I'm always skeptical of anything that appears to be a good deal. These jackets run about $500 MSRP, but if you can find the right size you can get them for about $270 these days. So can anyone vouch for their quality? Also curious about how the sizes run. It seems like people say they are a little on the small side, but I'm curious how much on the small side.

I haven't worn one myself, but did a lot of research when I was looking for 1pc suits. Had pretty good reviews, and yes they had a sizing problem that was supposedly fixed somewhere in 2009, so be aware if it's older than that.

I have owned them and crashed in them. Good protection. Watch for "European" zippers. That's why some are cheap.

They still work and have good quality, but for us, the zipper is on the "wrong" side. Just a little weird, but protects you just the same. Most places don't disclose the zipper thing unless you ask.

Somewhere around '09 they changed mfr. facilities and the quality suffered somewhat. For close the that price there's several better jackets I can put you in.

Patrick,

Thanks for the heads up. I did end up getting a Teknic violator jacket and REALLY like it so it must have been made before they switched manufacturing facilities. I also bought a cheap pair of boots from them and well that was a different story. Definitely not top notch, but better than a regular work boot. So in the boot department I might be stopping by in not too long to look at some sidis or A*s. Thanks for the head up.
