EXCELLENT photos and commentary.

If you have never been to Big Bend you MUST go out there at some point in your life. Nothing like anything you will see elsewhere in Texas.

That's why I am headed out there the end of this month to ride the FJR.

Drive isn't that bad, I took 90 from Houston through San Antonio all the way to Seminole Canyon State Park, which is about 175 miles from Big Bend. Lots of small towns to pass through, and decent scenery once you pass through San Antonio.

Looks like you had a great time. I go out there every year with my dual sport bikes. You took some good photos in the park and at Santa Elena Canyon. Good roads in the park like River Road & Old Orr Road.TRH does the Terlingua dual sport ride every year in Oct/Nov. It's a 2 day ride so sadly you don't get to see enough out there. I have been going out there for 30 years. Lots of roads out there. Sadly a lot of them are now closed due to the state buying property or some crazy individuals who like to put gates across the county roads. Still we have a good time out there. Kathy's is a great place to eat. I miss her cooking. I need to get out there more often. Keep me posted on when ya'll go back out there. I might be there...

Camillo took his FJR1300 automatic and rode the streets. Hit him up on TWTEX if you want tips. His screeen name is CDC

Sorry for the UT shirt. I'm actually a Rice grad and my brother the UT grad. But it off Aggies, which is always entertaining.

For anyone wanting to go ride some gravel roads, there is a Texas Adventure Rally in Junction, about 5 hours from Houston, the first weekend in April. I'll split gas and a hotel room 4 ways It costs $25 to register, gets you a GPS mapset, and a group of 100 other nuts to enjoy the weekend with, dinner banquet, raffle items, etc.... This one will be a Friday to Sunday, with no vacation from work for me. Drive out at 4 on Friday, come back late Sunday.
