No - it's not an "inside" term.
The model FXDWG refers to the FX Dyna Wide Glide...the letters in HD models actually do mean something.
"Wide Glide" is the standard name for an FXDWG...because it's part of the name. Not because it was made up out of thin air.

While we're on the subject...I think the term "hog" is almost equally as annoying as "gixxer" (or rice rocket...ugh...that's annoying too).

As for the thug and "warlock"...that actually is a common misconception (myth) about a "large breed" of Doberman. It's actually based on a very large Doberman blood line that had a sire named "Warlock" (I think) from a LONG time ago (60s or 70s maybe)...so at least that thug wasn't completely off base. It's a common mistake for uneducated Doberman owners (and thugs) to make.

Says the gixster owner

He wasn't knocking the bikes (I don't think), just the people that refer to to them as gixxers not GSX-R...

but your reaction is expected from a gixster owner...

Sure, I call my bike a Gixxer, cause its easier to say than G-S-X-R.
Do I care if that bothers anyone? Nope.

Eh - really didn't care (or need) to be validated.
I don't care if everyone here said the word gixxer was AWESOME...I'd still think it's gay.

And NewRider is right...I'm not knocking the bike. a GSXR 1000 is 1 of my favorites...right under the R1 and CBR1000 and Ducati 1098 and the new Buell...but hey...it's up there over Kawasaki!! LOL!!
Dude...seriously - I'm just jacking with you.

I've always heard gsx-r is for grand sport experimental racing. Also seen that it's a chassis engine code for #cyl, cams, motor configuration. Etc. Bet that the japanese didn't just assign some random letters, though.

All the Suzuki Letters do as well, it's just hard finding out what they actually stand for. Some say that GS= Grand Sport. The GSX-R was a sales designation for Grand Sport Experimental - Race. Also reported is that the designations are: G - Four stroke multi cylinder, S - Sport, X - transverse four cylinder and R - Race replica. Who knows...

I'd been told that the RGV that I have stands for Race Grand prix V (cylinder configuration), but don't know for sure.

As for Hayabusas, I guess it was too fast not to have an "R" but different enough from the GSX-R line to differentiate it by putting the R after the displacement. Hard telling.

SV might be Sport V (cylinder config)

only knows what RF stood for - maybe ridiculous fins?

Other not so widely known motorcycle acronyms:

DUCATI - Diverts Ultimited Cash Assets Toward Italy
HONDA - Had One, Never Did Again
SUZUKI - Squirrely Unskilled Zero Ultimately Killed Instantly
YAMAHA - You Actually Might Acquire Honda Afterwards
BMW - Broke My Wallet
HARLEY - Heavy Anemic Ridden Less Every Year and the list goes on...

I don't care who uses the term gixxer. Douchebags or not.
It's easier to say and everyone knows what you're talking about.

There is a big douchebag demographic out there that is more of a "Duuude, hellz yeah, I own a fucken gixxer bro. Fucken sweet wheelies n' duuuude."

Those fools ruin it.
Hate the players, not the name.

I was driving on BW8 and this truck passed me up all crazy. It was a smaller truck like a colorado? Anyways it had a HUGE sticker on the back window and it says GIXXER 1000 ! I wish I could have took a pic!

Im not a suzuki hater by far,I think they are great bikes. Its just these group of guys giving the name a bad rep.
