MotoGP Vs. SBK

Quote:
It is temping to speculate what would happen if these two Superbikes were mixed into the MotoGP grid. If we go back to the last time the MotoGP 800s ran at Phillip Island, last October in round 16 of the 2010 season, we see, rather surprisingly, that Checa's would have bumped Ben Spies on the Tech3 Yamaha M1 off the first row -- a first row that would have been led by Casey Stoner. (By the way, Stoner's Ducati stormed down the Gardner Straight at 323.4 km/h or 200.994 mph during the final MotoGP qualifying session.

Just for the fun of it, imagine the first two rows (using the three-per-row MotoGP formula):

First Row

1. Casey Stoner (Ducati Desmosedici 800cc) 1’30.107
2. Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha M1 800cc) 1'30.775
3. Carlos Checa (Ducati 1098, 1198cc) 1'30.882

Second Row

4. Max Biaggi (Aprilia RSV4) 1'30.895
5. Sylvain Guintoli (Ducati 1098, 1198cc) 1'31.293
6. Ben Spies (Yamaha M1 800cc) 1'31.386

Wouldn’t that have been an interesting mix?

Even allowing that the WSBK guys use qualifiers that's mighty impressive.
And to think Ducati WSBK wanted more compensation for running a twin

till we take a look at race laps,

b3lw9d

and the amazing thing is that the WSBK bikes did 22 laps on 24 litres of gas whilst the motoGP 800's did 27 on 21 litres.

The 800 is a bad beast
and those that ride them should all be paid more

That's very cool, always wondered how closely talented these riders are.
The last bit shows why people make the jump to GP and not the other way around...

It will still very interesting to see a battle of the "leagues". Take the top 5 guys from WSBK and make them run with the TOP 5 guys from MotoGP. It could be just a race for charity purposes, maybe even one to open up the Austin F1 track.

Again with flossi, he will need 6 months to adapt to the KTM, in the other hand Dingo will need 2 laps

BTT, there is a lot of talk about the new GP CRT rule, they may not allow production engines to be branded when running in GP which may cause factories such as BMW or Aprilia to not even consider supporting that effort.

Also, it is well known that SBK bikes are NO WHERE close to production bikes, so are those 240hp production engines be allowed in GP or the stock 180 production engines Then if a factory such as Aprillia or BMW support the engine, then that means that they are factory support and will not be allowed, jezzz it is getting complicated

GO DINGO, BRING QATAR!!!! I am still waiting for the Official Dingo shirt for the Qatar race at the normal race viewing spot

I don't see Rossi being a factor this year..
He may do ok, but the combination of a new bike and shoulder injury
will be a little much to overcome... even for him

I may have to give this one a miss

make you right, by mid season he'll be in the hunt but it'll be too late by then.
Stoner and Danny will shine regularly but Jlo will take the title again imo.
Consistancy could bring Spies into contention too, cant wait
