Help me plan my six day road trip!

In a few weeks I'll be going on another road trip, just not sure where. Last fall I headed out to big bend but broke down at seminole canyon state park, stayed a few days and spent a few days at garner state park. I'll be gone for six or seven days, so I want to spend two days max on the road each way. Want to go somewhere scenic with plenty of hiking. Any ideas?

2 hard days would get you to Colorado, all the twisties you can handle, and great hiking.... Duh the Rockies.

In 2 days you could get to eastern Tennessee or western North Carolina. Ride the Dragon's Tail, Cherohala and the Blueridge Parkway.
Explore Smokey Mtn Natl Park, etc.

Nearly any road you get on will be 10 times better than the best around here...

Big Bend National Park in Texas is a good place. Good hiking and good highway to Presidio for motorcycles...

go there - stay in Alpine, which is 500 miles from Houston and 90 miles north of the park. Superb riding up around Ft. Davis and down in the park and along river road from Terlingua to Presidio.

You will be glad you did.

In fact, the riding is so good over there I am going (again - 3rd time) the first weekend in April.

If you go north of here this time of year we forget that its only March and you just might run into old man winter, especially in higher elevations. Or at least cold rain.

Depends on when and where you're going and how much the estimated cost is.

Decided that I have just too much studying to do, so I'm gonna keep it close. Heading to Pedernales Falls west of Austin on Monday, spend a few days there then check out Enchanted Rock. From there head to Colorado Bend State Park northwest of Austin then head back home Saturday.
