How were you fired/laid off?

Ever been fired or laid off?

A few years ago a company that I worked for had lay-offs. They scheduled a 'all-hands' meeting on a different floor of the building. Before the meeting they called certain individuals and told them not to attend the meeting but to go home for the day.

The people that went home still had a job. The people that went to the meeting never made it back to their desks.

How were you fired or laid off?

I know someone who was laid-off on April Fools Day!

I was laid-off by being called into my bosses office. That sucked majorly.

I had a meeting meeting show up on my calendar for Friday Dec. 9th at 11:30am. I didn't always make it into the office before noon on Friday's, but since I had some urgent work to do, I made it in at 11. Yay me! lol Was on the phone working through some issues with one of our customers/owners and told them I'd get 'right back to 'em after this quick meeting'

Went to the bosses office and saw our new HR manager of 3 weeks(we never had one for the 4+ years I worked there)

I was told my position had been eliminated and the HR guy proceeds to thank me like... "*WE*, would like to thank you for your years of service" Of course i'm thinking.. WE? You've been here 3 weeks .

Of course, I said nothing, but was actually relieved.. That place was literally killing me. You can only work 24/7 for so long before you just die from exhaustion. :icon_bigg

They couldn't have picked a worse time as far as the customers were concerned. I kept getting update calls all laughing at the chaos that ensued.

I was fired by Noble Drilling for fighting once. They called the bird, i packed my bags, and they flew us to the heliport, game over. It was a releif b/c the hole we were drilling was a pain in the . As soon as i got home from LA, my cell phone rang. . ."we need you to come back to the rig." fastest fire/re-hire in my life.

I worked at a gyms pool, I was 15 doing maintence and cleaning and . I worked my off, I thought a job was all about working and thats what I did.
My boss loved me, she was always praising me and doing special for me, to say the least I had no second-thoughts about job security.

The pool was known for mentially and emotionally disturbed people coming in, I have no idea why, they were always ****ing wierd, I had one lady run out screaming about the vaccumm I was using in the pool.

One day this ****ed in the head lady came in, and made a complaint to my boss saying I sexually touched the female worker at the pool.
Next day I was called in and fired because I was considerd a "liability" Even the girl said nothing happend, and I never talked to her so I didnt even really know her.

Ever since then I have yet to trust a boss, and Its hard for me to put in that "110%" just because I dont see why I should strain myself so much, when they can just fire me for nothing.
Good news is my friend is going to start taking me to that gym for a free membership starting this weekend, so Im making a list of im going to do to give that a hard time!
