Old/New Houston Rider!

Hello everyone!

I got my first sportbike back in 2001 shortly after graduating Marine bootcamp, 2000 GSX-R 750 (I know...I know) but had to sell it after my mother freaked out haha!!! Picked up an R6 in 2002 and rode that for 2 years then sold it to move back to Texas from Maryland after my enlistment was up. Just recently picked up a 2007 CBR600RR and would love to meet up any riders who know some twisty back roads or scenic rides on the west side of town, or anywhere honestly, I'm just looking for saddle time at this point. I have a decent amount of riding expierence but felt alittle sore after my first day back on the bike.

I consider myself fully addicted to WSBK/MotoGP and plan on doing as many track days as possible this season as well as meeting anyone up on Sundays to watch the races (for a second time of course, can't stand to watch the US coverage of these races).

I look forward to getting to know everyone on here, hopefully soon!

That's what the mute button is for!

I know most of the roads. Used to lead a lot of rides but I don't get out as much as I'd like to. Bike is getting a little worn and aged like me!

If it was just the commentary I'd put up with it, its all the commercials! After having the MotoGP.com video pass all last year and watching every practice and qualifying session, it's almost insulting to me when they cut to a commercial with a few laps left in the race. Especially at Motegi this year!!!

Couldn't pick a better day to dust off the bike and enjoy the 5 perfect riding days the motorcycle gods give Houston. They will be gone before you know it!

Welcome! I know what you mean, this weather is awesome! When I get a new set of tires I want to set up a ride with NewSlider (he has more friends than I do) to hit up Cypress Rosehill to 249, that road is awesome!

Welcome, nice bike you got there.

I saw your question regarding TD. While not reccommended, I did ride to my first two-three TDs, it is a PITA but, it can be done for close tracks like GSS or MSRH. However, always have someone available in case your bike fails or you crash.

That being said, if you plan on doing multiple TDs, I'd strongly suggest you getting a small trailer, there is one for sale on the classifieds for 300 bucks or you may get a new one from northern tool for about 450, and just drive to the track.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, and the advice on TDs, thats def something I plan on doing as often as possible.

My MOS was 2621, Signals Intelligence with morse code mixed in there. Trained in a few more spook MOS addons during my stay. Loved it.
