Driver suspected of running over cyclists must come forward, police say
He must give evidence on Monday in Porto Alegre.
Nine people were taken to hospital in the city, on Friday.

The driver suspected of running over cyclists on the evening of Friday (25), on the corner of Jose Luiz Afonso Sponsorship and in Porto Alegre, must report to police the Police Traffic Offenses on Monday (28). "The lawyer called us saying he represents the owner of the car and the owner was driving the car at the time of the facts. He said he would present the client to provide information on what happened," said delegate Gilberto Almeida Montenegro.
Nine people were taken to Emergency Hospital in the city. All were released without serious injuries, according to the hospital. The driver fled the scene without providing assistance. Enraged, the cyclists arrived to close the avenue.

Over 100 cyclists participated in the event sponsored by the Critical Mass movement when a car entered in the middle of the train dropping dozens of participants. For the group, who published on his blog with video testimony and images of cyclists bike destroyed, the trampling was considered a crime and not an accident. The timing of the running over a cyclist has been recorded (see pictures below) and posted on youtube .

For the group, who published on his blog with video testimony and images of cyclists bike destroyed, the trampling was considered a crime and not an accident. The timing of the running over a cyclist has been recorded (see pictures below) and posted on youtube .

The cyclist Carlos Eduardo de Carvalho Filho, known as Cadu, said the bike ride is held every last Friday of each month, in several countries. "This event is made in St. Paul, San Francisco, New York and London, for example. The goal is to educate the public that the rider can move through the streets. People have to understand that a bicycle is a vehicle."
Carvalho said that a meeting be held among cyclists in Porto Alegre on Sunday to discuss a possible change in the way of the events with cyclists in the city. "The purpose of Critical Mass is to encourage bicycle use, so do not make much sense to ask for support from cars to protect those who are cycling. From the moment you put the police and transit supporting a manifestation of cyclists, drivers would respect only those authorities and not the bike. We will discuss the stance of Critical Mass and evaluate whether to ask for support for these events from now. "
