Yea, but they're designed to have the leathers tucked inside them

well, the suit is great, i MAY change out the boots but, i'd rather stay with the frugal route..I've already invested all this money on the gear.

FWIW the boots are just fine when not being zipped over leathers.
You could take them somewhere and have the boot altered. Add a little more material in front of the zipper so it's not so tight. I've had to do that to gloves before because the pinky finger is always too long.

i couldnt zip my boots up at msrh the other day (rented leathers). what i did was i pulled the legs up as far as possible. this helped A LOT. the leathers were too long and when i pulled them up, the bottom ended up roughly in between my ankle and calf.

I have SMX Plus boots and have the same issue with zipping up my boots. In fact, between struggling to zip up boots with leathers and also with A* kneepads inside of them, the zippers and pullstrings on both of my boots have broken...

206zqt1

(I will be sending these back to AlpineStars for repair)

...currently, I can only use the calf rachet to keep the boots on my feet which I am not comfortable with. This is why I bought Supertech R boots...I am hoping they are more suited for in-boot leather applications. They are shorter than SMX+ boots and also have accordian leather to stretch the zipper easier than the stretch material on the SMX+ boots., so getting Supertech R boots zipped should be easier.

It is a pain no matter what boot though...even when broken in, it's a struggle to get things zipper properly.

Same here...

2 years
25,000mi, many of which were in the rain
4 trackdays
Worn with both leathers and street/knee pads

Boots are just one of those wear/tear items that don't last forever. I wouldn't second guess your Alpinestars purchase...they are great boots
