yes everything you said is true but keep in mind i have not pointed any fingers at you i am just trying to find out what could be wrong with this bike. Then from what i can find out about the bike we can go on to talk about what we will or will not be doing. Becuase if there is something majorly wrong with this bike and you knowingly sold it to me that way witout saying anything would be where our deal went wrong.

I bought the bike about 2 weeks ago from a guy off craigslist. Yes I think the bike had been sitting for a while as it was covered in dust. I brought it home on a trailer and rode the bike for 15-20 miles before realizing the R1 was not the bike for me. Since then the bike has been in my garage. Not sure if the cold over the past two weeks could have affected the battery.

When he text me that he was at the store we were meeting at I litterally walked into the garage and started the bike and rode it to the store where we me. He started and shut off the bike multiple times with no prob. He took the bike for a ride with no probs. Came back and we made a deal. He got a good deal as the motor has been opened and he said he was taking a risk on the bike so he should get a deal. I took a hit on what I paid and new tires cus I really need the money to pay taxes and get out of the bike.

He then called later saying the bike wouldnt start after putting gas in it. My only thoughts were bad gas or dead battery but the bike ran fine when it left my possesion and the whole time I have had it. I asked him to take the bike to a shop and get it checked out and we could work something out come the results. I could have just said oh well your bad but I am not that kinda of guy. Many people in the moto community know me and will vouch that I am not that kind of guy.
I can vouch for this, really good guy

2006 R1 Starting trouble

Charge the battery and go get it tested. If it tests good then u need to check charging system. If that's all good then check spark, pull plugs n read them, see if it's vapor lock/ flooded, make sure injectors aren't clogged, drain the crappy valero gas n never get that gas again n refill with good gas, and put some seafoam or lucas fuel treatment in it. If none of that stuff checks out then let me know. If u dont know how to do this stuff then bring it to me or Motorcycles Unlimited or another good shop

I got ya I just wanted to throw out what I know and get a little more info out there. I am going to look for the info from the guy I bought the bike from shortly. I told you everything I knew about the bike. I agree that it is either battery or a bad tank of gas like I asked about last night. I just said that cus it ran here and then ran for you to ride it home then the gas station. Probs started after you added gas. That is why I said that.

Used vehicle sales are always "as is" unless the seller explicitly offers some type of warranty or hides a known defect from the buyer. If neither condition applies it's "Buyer Beware".

fuse? it would be the first thing i check before I tear the bike down. Then I would go check the ground to make sure if it's not loose.

I had the same problem, but luckily it was just bad gas from sitting for awhile. It would die on me while i'm riding.
