Exclamation 9/18-9/22 RIDE TO DEALS GAP INVITE

There are 2 of us going to Deals Gap on the 18th, as the title says, and have room on the trailer for 1 more bike. If you are interested, PM me for more details. Also, if you would like to go, you must have lots of street cred. NO NOOBS!!!! Unless you have ! If you have never ridden in the mountains either, do not apply. If you do not have full gear, do not apply. If you are broke, have bald tires, bike needs repair, or any other lack of maintainance, or general responsibility, please, do us a favor and don't ask to go. I do not intend on babysitting.

We will ride all through the Apalachain Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and many other great roads. It will be a week filled with tons of riding. Be sure you are up to long days in the saddle. I was raised in those areas and know my way around there quite well.

We will be staying here: http://www.twowheelinn.com/

I'm from WV I'm going up this weekend... its a completely different environment than down here. Makes you laugh when people say "hill country."

The roads are a blast and many of them are on caliber with the tail of the dragon but thankfully they are mostly deserted and cops are few and far between (and often very forgiving).

As long as the weather is nice whoever goes is gonna have loads of fun. Just look out for deer!

to deals gap from houston is probably about 19 hours +/- 4 hours depending on who drives and how long you need to stop.

I used to drive about 4 hours further north than that and I started getting a hotel half way and then realized with gas and a hotel its way cheaper just to fly.

Have fun, It'll be a blast. The Skyway and the Parkway were way better in my opinion. Only thing is that the entire BR Pkwy is dbl yellow and fines are $500 per violation. The rangers are not too forgiving if you don't drive it at 45mph. Although this is just hearsay from the guy that got stopped that was trying to keep up with me and my buddy...lol.

nah they aren't $500 per violation I dunno who told you that. Depends on who stops you the state troopers there and in the surrounding states have all upped their fines so I would count on around $150 per ticket minimum.
Most of them use radar still though so as long as you have a detector up you should be ok, but just so you know in the hills a detector may not go off until you are right on top of a cop (and also since those roads aren't always the most heavily traveled if you are the first vehicle he shoots radar at(instant on) than your detector may not go off till its too late).

And your cell phone won't always work so if you are riding in a group its a good idea to take 2 way radios if you get seperated.

Im sure you guys know alll this already so blah blah blah sorry to up the thread.
