tips on buying a used bike

What are some key things to look out for when purchasing a used bike? What if it has a salvage title? I plan on purchasing a bike to ride the life out of it and occasional track use.

take the MSF course.

get a good starter bike. you dont want to drop a $5000 machine on day 1 and get discouraged. you can always upgrade. most riders go through several upgrades over the years of their riding. i would avoid a salvage title bike for your first purchase.

there is a helpful sticky about buying used...search for it if no one posts the link.

Chris24, I've taken the MSF course a long time ago. I just want to ride again. I haven't rode a bike in like 5 years.

ticao, it wasn't me. Someone else snagged it before I could.

Something we offer everyone is you can bring the bike by BEFORE you buy it and we'll do a free visual inspection and test drive.

Have them take it to Patrick. He'll find anything that would potentially need attention.

For free it cannot be beat.

If it's a track bike only it's a good way to go as you can get them cheap.

For a street bike, it's not worth the trouble.
