I was going to sign up for my first track day at gss. Have some questions. First few is gear. I got a frank tom xti 2pc suit, sidi fusion boots, gloves I have are old alpine stars given to me by mudbug, they have wrist protection but are pretty worn now. I don't have a back protector yet and think its a requirement so any recommendations appreciated.

Do I need anything other than ^ as far as gear.

Tires, both are mich road 2. Fronts fine I'm sure but rears a slightly cupped.(Can send pic message of tires, can't post pics from my Droid).

Will bring tape for lights, signals, plate, mirrors.(or do day before)

Will bring extra gas and minor tools, sockets.

Will bring food,drinks.

Anything I'm forgetting? If theres no real difference between g union and fastlane ill be signing up for either march 19th or 20th with fastlane. so if anyone else already planning on going that day can you show me around when we get there? Thanks, max.

I'm looking to do my first track day as soon as possible, but not really sure where to begin and somewhat overwhelmed with it all.

Do I have to wire my bike up and swap out street plastics for the novice group? Is there a group that meets up and rides to the track as I don't have a truck or any way of trailering my bike either?

No you can run your bike just like it is, just tape up headlights, taillight, blinkers, etc. . .

You won't really find anyone riding to the track. After a day riding on any track people are usually tired and beat to death. You can post up asking if anyone has room on their trailer and nine times out of ten someone will have room for you.

To add to this you can visit the website of any local TD organization which will have detailed rules on the minimum condition of motorycle and rider depending on the skill level/group you will be riding in.

Often the details will include answers to every question you asked and more.

LSTD, RideSmart, Fastline Racing just to name the few I'm familiar with would be a good place to start
