even further back in the day, I remember when people said Smokey Yunick was crazy because he claimed he could get over 2hp per cubic inch of displacement. Everybody said no way no how could he do this ... He proved em wrong obviously or this story would suck.

4 cylinder bikes make more power/torque so yes it's possible for those. wsbk (four cylinder) bikes are at 200+hp. heck the stock bikes make close to 180 so 20 more hp isn't far fetched. but to pull a additional 70 hp out of a bike that's kind of highly stressed anyway is not possible. Likei said ducati corse would hire in a heart beat if he really made that kind of power.

i gurantee this one isn't true. UNLESS the motor only lasts 100 miles. remember ducati corse bikes make it 250km till valve adjustment is needed and after 600 km or so they need a complete tear down and rebuild only things good when it's time for rebuild are the cases everything else is . and that's 190 hp.

pan, think outside the box. the guy doesn't list his mods..........NOS, Turbo, Big Bore......none allowed in WSB but some of those mods still doable.

and a guy w/ a 999r........has the $ to do it.

wow first time racer x has ever thought outside the box. he didn't mention his mods on purpose from what he said. Now let's think about this when people have a turbo nos or big bore kit they ALWAYS list it so others can marvel over his huge . I call bs.

He races it time after time so I think it's pretty well taken care of. He's been using the same motor at least the last year now.

The big difference between the 999 motor and the V-Rod is DISPLACEMENT!
You can't make a 999 motor very much larger than it's 999 cc.
The V-Rod on the other hand is 50% larger than the 999, so obviously the potential for hp is much greater / easier to acheive.

I'm with Charles on this one, on a normally aspirated 999, 207 rwhp is'nt possible.

Yeah, N/A isn't going to be possible. Just seeing what they have to do on a GSXR1000 to get to 200hp is unbelieveable. Heads, sleeves, crank, cut the cases for the longer stroke, etc...and then it only last for so long. I was putting out 168rwhp on my GSXR1000. Stock it was only at 142rwhp. It was to get it where it was. So I can say I don't think so. BTW, that Vrod should be putting better times than that...I was turning 9s on my GSXR.

He wouldn't say what mods............and no dyno sheet. But it SOUNDS good doesn't it?:laughing6

My thought was the same..........most post EVERYTHING they've done like Charles said, but I don't profess to be an expert and it seemed a stretch for 2 cylinders and no assist.
